Impressions of the game Tales of Symphonia (Tales of Symphonia)

The most ancient Stories published in Stimushka. It can be seen from the models and approach that it is old, but you can also see how older games in the series grew out of it. Brings back memories.
In terms of graphics, due to the antiquity of the game, there is not much to look at here, although the authors tried in places to originality. But the game clearly takes the gameplay, although I traditionally do not like the role-playing system and the combat of such games (there are too many fights for a long time, it especially infuriates to stumble upon another resurrected monster while plugging with a puzzle).
And puzzles are a serious part of the gameplay here, in further games this is no longer the case, there are just intricate dungeons with monsters and chests. Immediately, each such location is traversed differently due to the properties of the terrain and the ring of power. Sometimes the invention of the authors even delights. Passing such dungeons is much more interesting than in future games, although, of course, it can be hemorrhoids.
Well, the main thing for me is the story and characters. The story, as is customary in the series, begins with a relatively ordinary and develops into an epic battle for the future of the whole world. And here even two worlds. With complex motivations and stories, when the main villain, although a villain, can cause both sympathy and understanding of his motives. You can even agree with him relatively, with an adjustment for his (and everyone else's) fierce idealism. This problem will not go away if the Villain's plan succeeds, but simply transforms into another plane. Because the problem lies not in the hearts of people, as the heroes say, but in the contradictions of socio-economic relations. Which, by the way, they will give us light hints, but so, by the edge. But even taking into account the fabulousness of the story, it is very interesting and from beginning to end it holds great turns and an ever-growing epic.
The characters here are in the best traditions of the series - chic. No one infuriates (like some in Zesteria), everyone is very interesting, with their secrets, lively communication, quirks and chemistry between each other.
In general, despite, oh horror, the year of release in 2004 (people of the same age as the game can already become blood donors!), Although it looks old, it plays quite well. And the story and especially the characters are beyond praise!
8/10

PyS: Better with a controller. You can set more than 30 FPS (see Steam tips), but due to engine limitations, this directly affects the speed of the game. That is, at 60 FPS everything moves so fast that it is unrealistic to play. But at 45 FPS it's great!
