How do you feel about old games?

It's interesting to hear people's opinions on this. What do you think, is it worth wasting time on old platforms and games or there are so many new games coming out now that there is no time and desire for them? And another interesting point - do you play the first game of any major series (for example, Tomb Raider, The Elder Scrolls), before passing the new ones, or immediately proceed to their modern versions? Thanks in advance.

Sometimes I launch it to feel nostalgic, but most often I don't get to fully play it. No matter how much excitement this toy caused in my distant childhood, now I no longer have the same emotions, and you realize that it has long since become obsolete.

I love not just old games, but very old ones. Not so long ago I bought the first and second parts of Delta Force in the GOG! ))))))))))))
And I also downloaded a lot of games from the early 2000s!

Positively, they used to be able to make games, yes challange was. But some of them are impossible to run on new hardware, and the animation is repulsive. Now I'm waiting for a re-release of SW: KOTOR, maybe Bioware will remember and adapt it to the new hardware, because I don't want to dance with tambourine in front of the monitor to run the game ten years ago. Also Bethesda promised to re-release Morrowind, because I don't feel like playing the old one. My favorite shooter Return To Castle: Wolfenstein can't be adapted to a large monitor without begging Lucifer.

I don't know who I prayed to, but I was able to run it on 16:9 resolution.

Well, in general the last revolutionary games were only in 6th and 7th generations, from that moment in terms of all sorts of innovations stagnation. (Well, maybe some cyberpunk will change the situation, but for me this is the picture).
All in all, if we're talking about a comparison in quality between new and old games, the old ones are better. A vivid example - third Fallout, it's banal better dialogue system, atmosphere, the system of skills and their interaction with the world, the originality of locations and open-world in general, interesting dlc and much more than in the 4 part. It speaks both about the awesomeness of 3 and the degradation of 4.
I also remember the first crysis, what I like more than the new parts, it was much more non-linear and vertical in terms of gameplay, and such trivial little things like gameplay (by no means want to hurt it in 2 and 3 parts, Hans Zimmer tried in 2, and Boris Slavov in 3, but still Inon Zun wrote the sound much more epic). In short, the staging and non-linearity used to be better there.
Also I can give you an example with the second black ops, now this code has the most balanced multiplayer, the new parts go more to the entertainment and attempts to diversify the gameplay jetpacks, scoring on balance.
Together, these examples I have too many, so I'm banal lazy to describe them

I love old games for their spirit, atmosphere and design. Fallout 1-2, Doom, Quake, Duke3D are great even now.

What do you mean by old games? Some games from 2010 are old, some games from the 90s are the best. On the subject: usually do not replay, because I play a long time and remember the stories in general terms, or replay for a specific purpose (import saves). I don't suffer from nostalgia.
