The onset and retreat of (Total War: Attila)

How does the mechanics of withdrawal of troops during a battle with another squad?
This situation is that even if one enemy unit is associated with the battle of my three units, then if I try one of these units to withdraw from the battle, that is, to withdraw from a fight with another squad, then during the escape, they lose a huge number of soldiers, even if the enemy force at this time loses the battle.
Maybe there's some sort of special mechanic for proper removal of the detachment from the battle?

It always was in all the games in this series. Sometimes it just looks amazing. The most competent to foresee the location of the detachment and the challenge that this squad will perform. The withdrawal and the withdrawal of the detachment always mean a beating, the loss of large amounts of fighters and even defeat, when the soldiers starting to actually run away from fear.

In the withdrawal of troops, it turns out the retreat.
During the retreat, the enemies hit in the back running away.

Therefore, it is not necessary to retreat by taking up arms. It is better to intelligently distribute power in advance.
