In the annotations to the game says that the story is about a girl Gries, who "hid in his own world" because her real world is filled with pain. The game is full of symbolism, and the ending leaves room for different interpretations.
GRIS is one of those games that you want to see, hear and feel. It appeals to the heart of a gamer, plays on the strings of his soul, it is impossible to resist. It catches the eye, enchants the ear and is the most pure and sincere emotions. GRIS is "the first fireworks through a child's eyes".
In terms of gameplay, GRIS uses techniques of puzzle-platformers, and elements of the "metroidvania", but in essence is the art game, a true "interactive art". Our heroine will visit several different locations (from Journey-like deserts, forests and quaint to the underwater depths and the stunning "moon temple") in search of the "stars" that she needs to leave this world. Each location has a competent design, memorable features and an indescribable aesthetic beauty.
The game is a little short. But after it, there is a desire to return to it again. GRIS is a small masterpiece.
