Beautiful armor (Destiny 2)

Enlighten me, I know nothing of the game)
Why am I in armor, rags and bound with ropes, and types less than my level look like the gods of Olympus? Where such beautiful armor? Or it will be accessible later and I stepped out so early created a topic, not understanding the game?
