MS Project 2007 on Windows 7

I use several different .mpp file on my computer. One of them showed me an error in MS Project 2007: Project cannot recognize this file format. I opened the MPP file in a different version of MS Project 2016, but the error remains. Does anyone know how to recover ms project file ?
