On 7-ke all installed gaming software? - DirectX (full package from June 2010), Visual C++ (better pirate hybrid: all versions in one), Framework (preferably the latter). When you turn off the update check installed KB2670838 (improving Direct2D / 3D, etc.). If no download and install manually - without it, some games (especially newer ones) don't want to work properly.
