As I recall, she only shouts in the second phase, I personally was running away. But somewhere I saw or read that you can just leave her behind during crying (I haven't checked). The rest of the time parrying her, and after parrying the strong vertical impact, it's a good window to attack.

This is not a bug. It is a feature of the boss, a sort of counter-attack with evasion, like feathers. Not necessarily in the left side, may occur due to a direct blow while standing in front of the face.
