Groupings and factions. Who to play for? (Fallout: New Vegas)

Here is a list of groups and factions, small and large:

1) Followers of the Apocalypse are a secular but semi-religious group that is dedicated to re-educating and restoring the wasteland and they are trying to make sure that humanity does not repeat the mistakes that led to the Great War. In Fallout New Vegas, they will inhabit the Hoover Dam.

2) Raspberry Caravan is one of the three largest trading companies in the entire New California Republic. They specialize in highly risky jobs. Many merchants think they are crazy, but for a high price, they always deliver goods to the customer. In New Vegas, one of the representatives of the caravan is Ringo, whom the player will meet in Goodsprings.

3) The foreman is the group that runs the Aces Casino. Their people have a wide variety of powerful weapons, so it's best not to mess with them.

4) Probably the most famous faction in the Fallout world. But in Fallout New Vegas, the brotherhood will be a side faction and has nothing to do with the main plot of the game, so it will be just a side faction.

The Brotherhood of Steel is a military-technological organization that aims to find and preserve technology, as well as to spread its influence in order to create a new society in a post-nuclear world. The Brotherhood is not aggressive towards the inhabitants of the wastelands, but it accepts outsiders into its ranks with great reluctance. The fraternity is composed primarily of the descendants of military officers, soldiers, and scientists, and with the exception of a few "outside" members, it is as close to pure DNA as possible outside the Vaults.

The brotherhood has a clearly defined hierarchy, but it differs depending on the territorial division. The only thing common to the entire brotherhood is that the Elders lead the brotherhood, the Scribes are engaged in the study of technology, and the Paladins fight with weapons in their hands.
In turn, Paladins are divided into: Lesser Paladins, Paladins, Senior Paladins, and High Paladins. Knights and Scribes: Initiate, Senior Initiate, Journeyman, Artisan, Senior and Chief Knight / Scribe.

The emblem of the brotherhood - a sword against the background of gears, symbolizes strength and progress. The emblem of the Brotherhood of Steel symbolizes each of the titles. The sword represents the Paladins, the wings represent the Elders (they control the movement of the sword), the large gear represents the Knights, and the two small gears represent the Scribes and Squires. The meaning of the circle in the emblem is unknown.

Excerpt from the Brotherhood Code:
“We will become self-sufficient. We will become the keepers of knowledge and wisdom. We will survive the end of civilization. We will take responsibility for our deeds, and we will judge others by their deeds.
This I will bequeath to you, Maxson, my son. The Brotherhood of Steel is named correctly. We are the Brotherhood. ... we stand back to back with those who share our beliefs and views. We are Steel. We are tough. We are sharpened and tempered.
Remember forever the fire in which we were tempered. Never forget. The motto of the old days, and now is our motto. "

A bit of brotherhood history (based on the Fallout Bible):

January 7, 2077. Major Barnett orders all FEV research to be moved to the Mariposa military base, despite all the objections of scientists.

October 2077 Captain Roger Maxson and his men learned that the scientists at Mariposa were using "military volunteers" (prisoners whose brains were removed for installation into robots) in their experiments. The morale of the base's personnel fell worse than ever, and Maxson executed Anderson, the project's lead scientist. Shortly thereafter (and in light of Colonel Spindel's confusion, who committed suicide), Maxson's squad recognized him as their leader. They decided to end their participation in the project.

October 20, 2077. Captain Roger Maxson, announced the withdrawal of his unit from the US Army by radio ... and received no response.

October 23, 2077. The Great War. The Mariposa military base survived, and the soldiers and scientists inside it were protected from radiation and FEV that spread across the Wasteland.

October 25, 2077. A scout in power armor emerged from Mariposa to take atmospheric samples. He reported no significant levels of radiation around the base.

October 27, 2077. The soldiers sealed the military base and set off into the desert, taking with them significant supplies and weapons schemes. Captain Maxson led his men and their families to the government bunker in Lost Hills

November 2077. Captain Maxson, his men and their families arrived at the Lost Hills bunker a few weeks later, suffering multiple casualties along the way (including Maxson's wife, but his son survived). Bunker Lost Hills became the headquarters of the Brotherhood of Steel.

2155. As a result of a full-scale campaign against the Vipers, the latter were almost completely destroyed. Since then, major trade relations have been established between the Hub and the Brotherhood. (caravans went to the Brotherhood before, but a little after the defeat of the Vipers, they began to go directly from the Hub to the Brotherhood on a regular basis).

October 2161. A Brotherhood of Steel patrol found a dead super mutant in the Wasteland. They delivered the body to the Scribes, and High Scribe Vraya began to study it.

In 2242, a war broke out between the Brotherhood of Steel and the NKR and, despite their technological superiority, the first began to lose it. (based on data from Van Buren, which never saw the light of day (here the author of these lines let out a mean male tear), and is not a canonical source).

It became known that the Brotherhood of Steel in Fallout New Vegas will wear the old T51-B power armor, and as always will be looking for technology.

5) Gun Runners
Originally, the Gun Runners ran a fortified factory in northeastern Los Angeles. They were an ordinary gang that robbed and defended their territory. In New Vegas, they expanded and started selling their weapons near the city.

6) New California Republic - founded in 2196, a federation in Northern California consisting of 5 states (Shady, Los Angeles, Maxson, Hub and Daiglow). The capital of NCR is the city of the same name, formerly known as Shady Sands (located between Vault 13 and Vault 15).
The structure of the NKR government is very similar to the pre-war US government. Power was represented by a House of Congress made up of representatives elected from the states. The competence of this body included the right to appoint the President and Vice-President, governing the republic (there were no restrictions on the term of office - Tandi was president for 9 terms).
NKR flag: a two-headed bear in the center and a red star in the upper left corner against the background of a large red inscription "NCR"
Since 2242, the NKR has been at war with the Brotherhood of Steel. Despite the obvious superiority of the fighters of the brotherhood, the NKR is a favorite in the war due to its multiple superiority in chmsliness.
In 2280, the New California Republic battles the Caesar Legion for control of New Vegas. The NCR base is located at the former McCarran Airport. The NCR wages a desperate war, but loses its position before the Legion. One of their forward bases, Camp Nelson, was completely destroyed by the Legion's task force, repeating the dire losses of Fort Aradesh. The morale of the NKR soldiers is at an all-time low. They are trying to make the solar power plant Helios Odin work in order to destroy Caesar's Legion from it. Part of the New California Republic group is in New Vegas, and they've lost touch with the rest for a while.

7) Caesar's Legion is a large, powerful and ruthless organization engaged in the slave trade in the world of Fallout: New Vegas. The leader of the Legion is a rather cunning and charismatic Caesar. The legionnaires in the organization are a well-organized fighting force, operating mainly east of the Grand Canyon. The flag of the Legion of Caesar is a black bull on a red background and the inscription "Legio X". The legion is composed mostly of former natives and savages and their younger descendants.

History of the Caesar Legion
This story is based on the events of the game Van Buren and has not yet been officially confirmed by Obsidian

Origins
In 2238, missionary Joshua Graham discovered two Followers of Apocalypse in the Grand Canyon. One of the followers, along with Joshua himself, later founded the Legion and became their Caesar, and Joshua became his "right hand".
The Legion grew in power during the reign of one of the strongest tribes in the wasteland, the Twisted Hair, which ruled all neighboring territories and collected tributes in the form of food, supplies and slaves. The Legion repulsed an attack by the Braided Hair, which eventually left those lands in a short time. The weakened and beaten remnants of the tribe were soon finished off by the Legion, no one survived, but one woman managed to escape. The surviving woman later became the tribal goddess Hecate.

Strength growth
Between 2238 and 2241, the first slave tribute was paid to the Legion by the Blackfoot Tribe. In 2249, a lucrative slave trade developed between the Caesar Legion, the Black Leg Tribe, and the ghoul ghouls on the Reservation. From that moment on, Caesar's Legion had full access to weapons, ammunition and armor produced on the reservation.

War with the People's Republic of California (NCR)
With renewed strength, in early 2250, Caesar attempted to shake off the NCR presence in the east and safely destroyed the NCR outpost Fort Aradesh, east of the Grand Canyon, and one of the NCR fortifications. This was the first major loss of the NCR to frighten the governor of Hoover Dam and allow the Legion to advance all the way to the dam. The next point on the path of Caesar was this Hoover Dam, but when trying to capture it, the Legion was defeated. Since then, the Legion has moved east of Texas, passing through legendary hurricanes that rage there almost all year round. Several groups of legionaries remained in the southwest, collecting tribute from local tribes in the form of slaves and goods.

New vegas
In 2280, Caesar's Legion rebuilt its forces in the West and captured most of New Vegas, including the famous New Vegas Strip, leaving McCarran Airport under the control of the People's Republic of California (NCR)

Legion Organization
All little information about the Legion is available only from the game Van Buren. It is significant that the group was named as a military unit and not as a regular organization. The legion had the opportunity to advance east, so humans were their primary resource. In terms of numbers, Caesar's Legion should have a little more than 300 Black Leg people, which was a fairly large group.
The Legion has its own titles, uniforms and traditions. From some sources it is known about quasi-Roman traditions and canons, if we proceed from the fact that in the Legion there are such typical titles as centurion and standard-bearer-vexillarium.

8) State of Utolbitha - a group of super mutants, natives of the Mariposa military base. Tabitha is the leader of the State of Utolbitha faction. Founded 2 years before the events of Fallout: New Vegas, in 2278, the State of Utolbitha is made up of smart first-generation super mutants and stupid second-generation super mutants, some despise others, others hideous in return.

State of Utolbitha
Founder: Tabitha
Leader: Tabitha
Headquarters: Black Mountain
Location: Black Mountain
belongs to:
Units: Mariposa Super Mutants, Nightkin, Vault 87 Super Mutants Linked
:
Memorable Members: Tabitha

9) The Powder Gangs are a bandit group from the eastern People's Republic of California (NCR).

When the People's Republic of California (NCR) was about to expand eastward, it needed railways to transport supplies over long distances, especially in areas poised for colonization. For this task, the NCR used bandits and criminals from their Black Canyon prison who were nearing the end of their punishment. Unfortunately, when NCR ran into financial problems, workers' pay began to be delayed or cut. And one day, the workers decided to solve the issues with their own hands, seizing all the workstations and all the gunpowder they could find. They became Powder Gangs, blowing up everything and everyone in their path - caravans and railways.
-
In the game we will have a choice: Either help the inhabitants of Goodsprings, turn over Ringo to the bandits or help the bandits to blow up the town.

Who likes which? Where will you join, if possible?

Judging by the information found in the game, nothing is left of the former Enclave .. so can we say that it is forever and completely destroyed as a faction?

S
SuperKotik 28.12.20

there are survivors left, they have a quest, like a faction - vryatli, but maybe at the end they will be allowed to join them

L
LFLserg 28.12.20

is it really possible to subjugate New Vegas? in the same place, everything seems to be exactly if for no one is so for yes-men)) And then I also want it - while I help everyone, then I dry out, only I fight with the legion and bombers.
I hope for freeplay, or some mod that will give the beginnings of command)) after the end of the main quest, play freeplay.

Big man 28.12.20

I'm thinking right now ... if you join the Brotherhood of Steel, NKR will become enemies? They offer to take over for the murder of Van Graffs

V
VVarf 28.12.20

LFLserg
Freeplay has already been done, it remains for the current to wait for some commander mod

g
guardian7 28.12.20

2 SuperKotik They join you only in the final battle and then disappear (as the ending says)
2 LFLserg You are in vain at war with bombers. There, on a quest for them, you lift the plane from the bottom and then at the end it will bomb the enemy positions. And in general they help with their shelling. And you just subordinate Vegas to yourself, if you chose neutral.

igromag is unlikely to be completely destroyed. According to one version, it was the Enclave who initiated the War. Of course, having properly prepared for it, that is, creating reserves for the recolonization of the Earth. For example, shelter 0 (you can argue about its existence, but since there is an Eastern Brotherhood of Steel, then there must be a shelter 0). Also, at the Sierra base, it was possible to wake up a soldier who fought with the Chinese in Alaska. Despite the fact that after a few seconds it spread on the floor, it is clear that before the war, experiments were carried out to keep people in stasis.
It is unlikely that the Enclave in Fallout II would have conspired genocide, hoping to populate the desert with the population of only one oil platform.
Most likely, they are busy developing a sinister new plan.
ZY
Remnants are not the Enclave, they are a bunch of deserters and missing people.

Again, there is a version according to which the Washington-based BS is just a conservative faction of the Eastern BS that has gone deep into North America.
In a conversation with a legate in the Vegas finale, you can chat about a certain threat from the east. I wonder why exactly from the east, and not from the north or south: -?

As far as I know, in the NKR, you can join the pass; in the strip there is a monorail that takes you to the NKR base, and there you can ask the chief to take it. And who joined the legion?

L
LFLserg 28.12.20

guardian7 Yes, you can capture New Vegas - but to the point))) if you can’t do anything about it))
now I’ll go through and run freeplay and wait for the commander of the mod)

Eh, he was an exemplary adherent of the republic, mercilessly beat all their enemies, most of all, the legion, (the reputation was an idol) thought I would go completely for them ... But as you know, the power of the greed of the authorities is enormous, as a result, he killed House, launched the robots in the fort, merged everyone on Hoover's gang (both the Legion and the NCR) and was like that, became the ruler of the independent republic of New Vegas, into which both NCR and the Legion would never go. And now I download a completely Russian version of the game and I will go behind the Legion, the whole Mojava will still recognize my dark side, by the way, in Fall I was never such, I will arrange a real Apocalypse for everyone (I chuckle viciously) !!!

V
Verddan 28.12.20

Help!
Actually, I am on the side of the NCR, but House instructs me to go to Caesar .. And then the war against the NCR will begin, but I don't want to ... Then how ?? If you kill House, your karma goes down .. And I play for good

Good is when New Vegas gets rid of all the parasites that want to own it .. well .. except for yrs .. So think, fuck this tricky House and fuck you fucking NCR? Moreover .. do not listen to the frostbitten Romans. There is no clear division into good and bad in the game. You play for good .. go through all the caves and shelters to save everyone who is suddenly stuck there .. free all the slaves you find, help all people in their personal problems, not political ones. One hell of your global decisions will suffer many virtual people and animals will die a lot .. no matter how hard you try ^. ^

BeerMan 28.12.20

Logically, it is better to play for NKR because she has more quests, she has bases throughout the Mojave Wasteland. To be her enemy means to crawl in all corners and not go to many quest locations.
Saddened that there is no Enclave like in F3. There the Enclave was a force, but here it was only an opportunity to get a armor.

I play for Legion and NCR, House at the same time. Those. performing parallel tasks that do not contradict each other for money and weapons.

N
NEMECbog 28.12.20

I play for NKR because the legion has dull armor)))

S
Scap. 28.12.20

since the legion's armor is dull)))
Well, the arguments.
I play as anyone. The main thing is to pay.

D
Dr. Ihar 28.12.20

The Legion is acting rather pretentiously. Especially the city where they crucified everything on crosses and carried out a lottery. (=. This is how I met them for the first time, and I saw that they were able to push speech. Otherwise, for now, all the factions are somehow on my side. I shoot only demolitions for the sake of additional proof.

K
Kris rebel 28.12.20

I passed for House and for myself. Now I pass the NKR.

G
Glinko 28.12.20

I play for myself, not bending over either in front of fanatical "Legionnaires" (Although I hardly managed to endure the entire base of the Legion), the cunning House (which I also crashed after receiving the "chip"), and the "Savior of Humanity" "NKR (I don’t touch them because it’s not profitable), as Benny said (until I banged him):" NKR is the same Legion, only they commit their crimes "legally."

And what's the problem .. they seem to come into contact with norms. Toka, if you do not want to pass their check, then they will be offended and quarrel with you, then you can take them out and take all their armor (any corpse as a bag) and sell.
