What to do with loot? (Assassin's Creed: Odyssey)

How to deal with unnecessary loot in this part ?! In Origins, it made sense to spray on materials to pump armor / blade and bags. And closer to the middle of the game, sell and save for chests with legendaries from a nomad schoolboy, as well as pump over old legendaries.
But how to do in this part? There are more materials. You don't need to swing the quiver and armor.
While at the beginning of the game, I don't understand a little how to proceed. What makes sense to save? Materials or money? Or both ?!
