What is important to you in games?
What do you especially love, value, look for in games in general and in specific genres in particular?
Gameplay, plot, graphics, music, sound, multiplayer, controls ...?
What is important to you in the first place, what is not so strong, and what does not really matter at all?
I propose to compile personal charts.
Here's mine, regarding games in general:
1) The plot
2) Gameplay
3) Music
4) Graphics
5) 'Atmosphere'
6) Sound
1. Plot
2. Gameplay
3. Sound
4. Graphics
5. Everything else
(Well, this, of course, refers to passing games, not fighting games, races, etc.)
1) Gameplay
2) Graphics
The rest is important too, but I'm looking at two points first.
in the arcade -
FPS gameplay - AI, graphics, gameplay, amosphere
in TPS - graphics, gameplay, plot
in RTS - gameplay, elaboration, balance
in TBS - atmosphere, gameplay.
in SH (survival horror) - plot, atmosphere
in RPG - elaboration of the world, role-playing system, atmosphere, variety of ways of passing and possibilities
in JRPG - graphics, plot, gameplay
in quests - plot, riddles.
Interactivity and plot, you don't need anything else! [/ quote]
And what about the music, and what about the gameplay?
John Romero:) [/ quote] I doubt it. Although the style he has it for sure.
For me, gameplay is the most important thing, a game without gameplay is nonsense. The gameplay itself includes everything. Gameplay is fun to play.

For me, the most important thing is the gameplay and the storyline. To score on the schedule! For animation - score! Even glitches!
Hmmm ..... It all depends on the genre of the game. For example, I'll take my favorite genre, Horror:
1) Atmosphere
2) Plot
3) Sound effects
4) Control
5) Soundtrack
6) Graphics, here's the detail of monsters and heroes
In quests, the most important thing for me is riddles. The main thing is that they are not too simple and elementary, but also not sophisticated in order to puzzle over them for days. There must be some kind of consistency, IMHO. ;)
