American McGee featured Alice in Alice: Asylum, a prequel to the original 2000 game
The development of the new part is currently at the preproduction stage.
During the broadcast, McGee showed the first character models for Asylum, a prequel to the original 2000 game.
At the same time, the game designer noted that these are not final versions and a lot can change during development.
According to McGee, the design of the heroine is also inspired by the early art of the first game, where Alice looks younger than in the final version.
Alice: Asylum is still at the preproduction stage - eight people are working on the game, and most of the funding is received by the developers from subscribers to Patreon.
American McGee's Alice series is based on a dark version of Lewis Carroll's tales "Alice in Wonderland" and "Alice Through the Looking Glass", which is full of cruelty, and Alice herself suffers from psychological trauma after the death of her parents in a fire.
The first part was released in 2000 and received high marks from critics for the atmosphere, level design and unusual setting.
The release of the sequel, subtitled Madness Returns, took place in 2012 - it largely developed the ideas of the original, but the ratings for the sequel were slightly lower.

These attempts by McGee cause nothing but pity, the first Alice, along with Silent Hill 2, is my favorite. But to be honest, even American McGee's Alice was far from perfect, and all further work of American does not cause delight at all. And now he is desperately clinging to his only famous brand, trying to regain his 5 minutes of fame and make money. Funding from a crowdfunding platform is an indicator that publishers no longer believe in it. Maybe it's time to temper ambitions and return to the work of a designer, what he did best.
By the way, isn't Electron Arts still owned by the brand?

Alice creator American McGee is working on a game and TV series based on the books about Oz
The game designer will take care of them together with the film company Radar Pictures
McGee, best known for his work on Doom and Quake, as well as the action series Alice, has announced his next major project, Oz: Adventures, on his Instagram. It will be a dark reimagining of Frank Baum's Oz series, with both a video game and a television series being developed in parallel for the franchise.
Based on an early pitch presentation the game designer aired live on Twitch, the game will be a single-player story-driven adventure. Apparently, they plan to release it in the form of separate episodes, each of which will be devoted to different characters who find themselves in Oz and trying to survive and get out of there.
McGee himself describes the Oz: Adventures setting as "The Running Man, only with witches, munchkins and quodlings." According to his idea, Oz is a kind of magical Bermuda Triangle, where people from different eras fall.
Details of the plot of the series for the same franchise were not disclosed, but the film company Radar Pictures is working on the show, which has produced, among other things, the films Jumanji, The Chronicles of Riddick and the first two parts of Bill and Ted with Keanu Reeves.
McGee was already involved in a game rethinking of "The Land of Oz" in 2013, when he launched a Kickstarter campaign for the game Ozombie, but he did not manage to raise the required amount. The development of Alice: Asylum will not be affected by the production of Oz: Adventures, the game designer assured, explaining that the delay in the sequel to "Alice" is due to difficulties due to the rights to the franchise owned by Electronic Arts.
Well, it's good that they got off the ground.
From time to time I look at the recordings of the streams where they will update the pre-production of the new Alice.
Well, they see Oz as a springboard in order to lure money on Alice and stir up EA.

American McGee announced readiness to begin development of Alice: Asylum together with EA
The game designer hopes that one day the management of Electronic Arts will agree to make the third part of the series.
On July 23, the developer reacted on his Twitter to the announcement of the Dead Space remake from the studio Motive and said that he hopes that the next horror from EA will be the third part of "Alice".
“While I (and Alice's fans) would like EA's next horror project to be a new Alice game, it at least pushes us forward in the queue. Sometime in the future, EA executives will say, "We need more products!" and someone will answer: "Alice?" Then we'll be ready!
At the moment, Alice: Asylum is still at the preproduction stage, and funds for the development of the game are being collected on Patreon. Electronic Arts itself has not announced plans to revive the franchise, but according to American McGee, its goal is to create a development plan, approve it at EA and raise funding for full development.
The last time American McGee shared the official news about the development of the third part in the summer of 2020. Then the game designer demonstrated the first models of Alice, but noted that this was not the final version and during the development, the appearance of the heroine could change.
The first two parts were released in 2000 and 2011, respectively. Both games have received positive reviews from both journalists and regular users.
