Why the guards might surrender (Assassin's Creed 3)

(the forum is not complete) they give up or run away if they take away their weapons, but even if there are no weapons near them, those who have given up disappear if they move away and do not look at them and they will no longer take weapons, but will only beg them to spare them if they have where to run they will run and still beg for mercy
