Warming up in winter - logbook Toyota Land Cruiser 2007
It is well known that a diesel engine at idle heats up slightly and in winter it is difficult to warm up a cold engine before a trip.
In "hundred" this problem is solved. Press the "POWER HEATER" button (button to the left of the steering wheel) and that's it! The engine speed rises to about 1100 rpm, the coolant heater turns on and the engine warms up much faster.
As for defrosting the windshield, there are no problems here either. A special button (I have it on the center console - an icon with the designation of the windshield), the heater fan speed increases and all the air is directed to the windshield. At the same time, some additional air heater is obviously turned on, because. even on a cold engine, the air goes, if not very warm, then obviously not cold.
As I understand it, this system already comes from the factory, or is it installed additionally? As an autonomous heater
I believe it is from the factory. because its description is in the staff manual.
cruiser the more net weaving is the level! even in unity I looked inside when I gave my own, it’s a pity that it’s not a leather interior)
For me, that's a plus. This plus is especially felt when you come to the parking lot in the cold)))
Strange, but I also have such buttons, I wanted to know if this is your first diesel.
And as for the glass defroster, Fords are still the best, they immediately have a very fine mesh in the windshield, like on the rear windows, so you can not start the machine
How cool! Indeed, there is no limit to the beautiful in our time. The car is amazing.
It's good! I used today, but I did not understand. I didn’t feel much heat, maybe because it was -8 in the morning? :) brrr

Worth trying! ) The Arabs, for example, do not have such an opportunity on the same machine as mine.
I tried it today, it looks like there is an additional heating. It was minus two outside, wound up, unscrewed the temperature control knob to the maximum. It seems that at first I didn’t really feel anything - the air was cool from the deflectors (hands from the frost), and then I took it and the temperature controller was removed to a minimum - I immediately realized that before that the air was clearly warm).
I had a heating on the Avensis! Very comfortably. And I really like the Toyota d4d! Very taut!
according to my observations, Toyota will still be better than Mitsuba. So they could not miss such a feature. Although everything is possible.
Definitely you have heated brushes, and this is already half a step to success)
Mine came to Russia through Scandinavia, it must be, if Toyota has such a function at all.

Heating is factory. For example, I have an electric heater, if the car is cold, I turn the temperature to the maximum and it turns on automatically. The glass comes back to normal very quickly!
We have a similar system on the L-200, but this is a purely air heating element installed at the air outlet from the heater, there are two spirals, one or both turn on depending on the air temperature, it is not connected in any way with the cooling system.
POWER HEAT
Sometimes the purpose of the "PWR HEAT" button confuses the owners of fresh Toyota cars. Let's try to figure it out...
POWER HEATER is an additional heater powered by a driven viscous heater and designed to increase the efficiency of the standard "stove".
The viscous heater is installed on models with diesel engines 1HD-FTE and 1KD-FTV in variants for regions with a cold climate - such as Land Cruiser HDJ101, KDJ95, KDJ125, HiLux Surf KDN185, KDN215.
1. Viscous heater
Heat is generated in the heater as the rotor agitates the silicone fluid it contains. The rotor is driven through a pulley by a belt from the crankshaft - like a conventional air conditioning compressor drive. Heat is transferred from silicone oil to the coolant entering the heater (stove) circuit.
The viscous heater is turned on using the "PWR HEAT" or "POWER HEATER" button on the dashboard.
At the signal of the electronic engine control unit, the electromagnetic clutch of the heater is activated through the amplifier.
2. Amplifier
The viscous heater is controlled through an amplifier tightly "tied" to the engine ECU.
3. Electronic engine control unit
The control unit controls the crankshaft speed and coolant temperature and turns on / off the heater, giving an ON / OFF signal to the amplifier. The system is based on several basic principles:
When the engine is started (when the engine speed is below 550 rpm), the OFF signal is sent to the amplifier.
During the operation of the engine, at a speed of more than 2500 rpm, the heater is turned off, and after it decreases to 2000 rpm, it turns on again.
When the coolant temperature is above 74°C, the heater turns off and turns on when the temperature drops to 69°C.
When accelerating (from less than 40 km/h), if the accelerator pedal is depressed by 45% or more, the booster will turn off for 6 seconds.
If the vehicle speed is less than 3 km/h, and the selector is in the "N" or "P" positions, the control unit forcibly increases the idling speed to 1200 rpm.
