Swap 2jz-gte — logbook Toyota Supra 1995
Decided to post pictures of what happened to the engine and what happened.
All in hindsight, of course.
Decided to protsetirovat its bortovik supra forum.
Suddenly it will be interesting to someone) I
immediately apologize for the confusion, as I cut out separate posts from different forums.
Hi all!
Decided to share my joy, finally (yesterday) left a friend's garage and overtook my beauty in his parking lot.
Supra swap itself was almost 3 weeks! during this time a couple of times had to remove put the motor.
but in general epic with the motor to last almost 1.5 years!
It all started with the fact that this capacity was intended for Soarer … by the end of the whole saga, the barn was sold and Supra was acquired.
motor has undergone kapitalku and porting head.
With the installation in the Supra, unforeseen situations also arose, due to which the engine had to be removed, disassembled again, washed and reassembled.
In general, I did not think that the car would go under its own power!
I decided to collect the story from the very beginning in one place:
Let's start with the purchase of the engine
I bought it in January 2008 :))
Jan 16, 2008
To begin with, I bought an engine 2 with a mileage closer to 110,000 (there were no troubles in the engine to drain the oil into - 25 gr. poured kerosene on parsing. in connection with which the question arose with the analysis of the head and its bores
That's exactly what took:
1) computer
2) switch
3) scythe
4) The scythe that goes to the machine
5) The wire that goes to the generator
6) the engine itself without an attachment
7) From the attachment only turbines,
generator, Conder, hydraulic, I remove it from my
What spare parts are needed for the engine: A
turbo pump from the American Supra,
then a pump from the American Supra turbo (it really has a larger impeller)
Rem a set of all timing gaskets
and a pulley
Hinged belt
maslaki XX
candles
Rings
All liners
Yes, you will also need a lot of 24 meters of wires for splicing. How long will it take I don't know?
(Great respect to my friend Igor, who took up the splicing of motors, since I'm not the first)
Right now I'm collecting spare parts!
This is the bare minimum!
But mnu went on
to buy a Koyo radiator,
there are 5 types of vacuum hoses that we need (order advice from titanium motorsport) there are very high-quality vacuum cleaners, just very good
Japanese people sell Chinese vacuum cleaners (at a crazy price) they are either oak or generally soft that they themselves are pinched and even normal there is no dark blue color (
Thorsen
The rest I have
is an intercooler
forward flow
of sensors a lot of
boost
while the installation process is postponed for a warm period mid-end of February!
but everything that can be done with the engine will be done while it is lying in the garage
cold, just decided not to touch anything ...
Jan 29, 2008
Finally the weather let go I went to the garage with my friends!
The task so far has been purely reconnaissance.
What else do you need to buy? and what about the move?
To do this, removed the cover of the candle wells!
The following sores were found:
1) The chips have dried up (you will have to buy)
2) the insulation of the wires is cracked (it will be necessary to insulate or tighten, let's see what is easier)
3) The rubber bands on the coils are cracked (for replacement)
4) the coils are alive without cracks
In general, as expected, nothing terrible!
Then they removed the camshaft cover! I removed it for aesthetic purposes,
I will polish it to a mirror finish of aluminum)
When removing it, it was very upset:
1) half of the camshaft cams are in a coating that looks like burnt oil! :((
This is bad!
2) There are scuffs and wear on the cams in those parts where it should not be)
Which indicates incorrect clearances or a crooked valve!
in general, now, for anyone, take off your head and make capital and grind everything! no photo yet!
As I will remove the head and polish it, I will upload photos!
if I find a competent minder, I will balance the crankshaft and
bore the oil channels! and skin everything!
at least there is a chance that the motor will spin more!
18 Mar 2008
I'll tell you what and how at this stage!
Removed the lower engine tray!
We got to the camshaft, decided to check the resources of the engines by the liners ...
They removed the liners and laid them out in order of priority! because if there is no production, they must be put in the same order!
We took deposits to the service station minders! they said everything was good! go and get moving!
But damn it! something I wanted to bring in general capacity in perfect condition and wash it to start!
Ushatal bunch of carbs and benzyl! badly washed especially when there is no way to put capacity in the trough for acidification!
Then we decided to throw off the impellers so clean to check!
It turned out that I was very fed up with moving!
one impeller fell apart, the second black impeller did not spin, i.e. jammed, well, since one of the impellers went into the intake and there is no guarantee that the piston
was not damaged, the engine had to be completely bogged down!
21 Apr 2008
Damn! how long does mnu swap go!)
I just do it once a week on weekends!
So a couple of tips!
You can wash the block from oil deposits - Sodium hydroxide is a strong alkali!
It is not friendly with aluminum, but with skill you can wash everything!
I diluted it to the point of porridge and smeared it with a toothbrush for a while, then washed everything well with water! in general, the bottom of the block is like new!
(with ALKALI AS AND WITH ACIDS TO WORK IN PROTECTION)
In general, alkali washed off carbon deposits on valve covers.
I didn’t take their benz, but I worked very quickly and constantly ter,
2 hours and a clean move! in the head it is more difficult there MM gaps so do not climb with alkali!
It is done like this: take a trough of Acetone and benzene and wash off most of the deposits, then boil the water and completely fill the head and with any powder (I had a universal myth), in general, poured boiling water over it twice, rubbed a little there and it probably wasn’t whiter when!
28 Apr 2008
Okay!
At the moment polishing the cylinder head, in general, this is a difficult thing …
even though I have a dremel (drill), but even it is hard to bore and polish!
In general, I want to dissuade everyone from this business! :):))
27 jun 2008
At the moment head porting is over!
after measurements, the inlet windows increased by 25%, the
exhaust windows are only rubbed to a shine - boring is not provided . It
remains to grind the valves!
It was also decided to abandon the machine gun and switch to fur! (thus bypassing the problem with setting up AEM)
in connection with which a kit p154 of a box
with a ceramic clutch from OS super single was bought
18 july 2008
Bought manifold and wastegate with two springs for 0.5 and 1.5 bar
From turbines I consider T78,
TD07 or the smallest T88
China, it was decided not to take, the miser pays twice
At the moment, we are looking for a top-loading fuel rail and high-resistance injectors
06 Aug 2008
Installed the 154th box on the shed)
Finally got the fur on!
We accelerated along Chaliapin, thank God the cops weren’t able to anneal, though we started from the second then the third, as far as I remember, it wasn’t 160 km when it started to hit the cutoff on the third (though you shouldn’t believe the speed, since the GP is different) at 7200 and then it was decided it was slow down because it was scary :))
I thought it would be possible to blow 1 ku but without a boost it's not real.
11 Sep 2008
You never know who doesn't know that in addition to repair there are also "stock" liners.
according to the program, it seems that only repair +0.25 are shown,
but if you dig there you can find stock ones
, it seems there are 5 types!
they are selected in two ways:
1) what number they have is stamped on them (but they are often overwritten)
2) for connecting rod bearings, take the number from the crankshaft (6 digits)
and then there are numbers on each connecting rod and add them up,
for example, I had numbers on my knee 101110 and connecting rod 1 1 1 1 1 2 and that will turn out for the first connecting rod 2 for the second 1 well and 2 2 2 2 for the rest
with indigenous it is a bit more difficult to take numbers from the back of the knee (7 pcs) and add them up with the numbers on the block
it was easier for me
.
December 10, 2008
decided to paint the engine in heat-resistant paint until the valve started! (After that, I repainted the covers 2 more times in different colors, and by the way, thermal paint is not friendly with acrylic varnish () while
tuning stopped there!
into another box (
it remains only to assemble!
By the way, the oil pump was replaced, most of the wiring chips, the wiring to the coils was replaced with a heat-resistant one.
they removed it from the spit and let it go along a different route in the corrugation, soldered it into the switch, it’s more reliable!
Jan 3, 2009
Hello everyone!
As sad as it is to report, the topic must be closed!
In general, the barn did not wait for a new heart and was sold.
Maybe of course the new owner will think about SWAPO, but alas, I pass!
ps I was separated from the swap only by installing the motor and splicing the wiring, in general, work for 3-4 days
the motor is ready and will most likely swap in another car.
14 Jan 2009
Thank you guys!
I don’t say goodbye to you, I’ll hang out on the site!)
I don’t have a bad tendency, on the contrary, I just had to help out a friend to buy a Supra from him, and, as you know, it’s a little expensive to keep two races on the maintenance. so after much deliberation, it was decided to sell the barn!
although I haven’t given it away yet, while I’m watering it, it’s winter no matter how … but the barn holds the track well :))
and it’s necessary to remove the snot and not to deal!
besides, I think the new owners will also hang out here :)) I have high hopes for him to fine-tune the barn, spring will soon be installed and the body kit will be installed, and there you look, or it will be 1 jet or it will be swapped, in general, we'll wait and see.
The main thing was to solve all the issues related to the installation of bellows in the barn ... since until recently, one thing climbed out the other.
To be honest, there are not quite decent people on interest forums when they give out a pig in a poke for a conditioned product!)
Jan 14, 2009
I bought a Supra
1995 before restyling 2JZ-GE
engine (yet) 5-speed manual gearbox no blocking, for that there are optional brakes from RZ, some body kit is about stock! rollers for 17 (I don’t like it) now I found the 17th different wide
I took the minimum mileage only because of the state (since I myself had previously helped a friend change the gaskets, I climbed the state)
minus that I stood for a long time because the friend did not have the physical ability to drive
around the cabin all in leatherette or whatever this garbage is called, well in general it is better than velor!
The car for the swap is just that, there is a capacity, there are also spare parts for the swap, you only need to put a getrag! I just think it's necessary? just for drain 58 is enough and getrag is noisy and expensive!
May 18, 2009
Assembled the engine :)
04 jun 2009
We started to drink Supra :) :)
so let's start with hot events:
I came to Artem's garage at 9-30
and rushed.
1. Started first with engine protection and bumper covers
2. removed the hood
3. began to drain the coolant, simultaneously unscrewing the backstage of the box from the passenger compartment
4. unscrewed the stove pipes, radiator pipes, unscrewed the coolant radiator itself
5. Removed the exhaust system
6. began to twist the box with with a cardan to pull the engine out without a box
7. Since I didn’t want to lower the freon and touch the steering wheel once again, they immediately threw off the hydrach with the conder
8. Igor arrived at 12 o’clock immediately threw the box to the ground
9. unscrewed the engine mounts
10. and began to pull out motor
11. for 5-10 minutes they pulled out the motor
12. here the first snags began. there was nothing out of the blue. even the distribution gears, the old engine began to blubber.
13. removed the sump, oil level sensor with a chip (put from a donor)
14. lost an hour to remove the knee pulley, blocked it from the side of the knee and only a 1.5 meter water pipe did its job
15. I went to run away with benzo and a sump to wash the sealant and oil
16. Artyom and Igor rushed along the attachment, put the timing rollers tensioner
17. understaffed the engine, removed the pillow supports from the old mover, put the pillows, checked the vacuum cleaners again, connected all the hoses
18. and installed the engine, coolant radiator
19. Looks like the first day is over.
1. The next day, in the morning, we rushed to Car City for a knee bearing, met with Misha where he helped out with distribution sensors, suction rate and idle valve, rushed to Prokhor for inter pipes, Misha helped out again by giving his pipes
2. having arrived for dinner only together with Igor they stuck the box,
3. Igor began to fly away along the wiring
4. I went to tighten everything in the reverse order from the bottom, the cardan reducer stuck another one - Downpipe, protection, exhaust, assembled the backstage, stretched the fuel supply, the return line again, fixed the pillows
5. put the conder, gur (the tank from the turbo brand with a cable was obtained through Sain - respect to him)
6. changed the tensioner bearing, filled in the oil,
7. Artem came and waved the tachometer to the turbo Tahoe
8. in general, there are still a bunch of little things, twist here, unscrew it, etc.
9. in general, it remains only to put the intercooler, and splice to the end of the wire.
in general, if something is not added, then Igor will correct)
and Artem will also add)

my friend writes:
Damn, no words, the one who made us the engine set us up or force majeure. We drained off and let down that the head was apparently badly screwed to the engine or something with it :( sifionit sho PPC! We'll repair the engine and wait for the one who assembled it. Well, it's clear that this is not a crack in the head and not a gasket blew in one place, it's just nirial. Even there is no proper discharge, the brakes do not pump, smoke comes from the exhaust side , apparently there is no compression because the engine spins by hand easily ... But one thing is known. Gisette tsuko does not care about the engine, it started from half a pin, and well we never warmed up and never gasped, let's hope everything remained alive there. It started up and worked for a few seconds until a full pipets started in the combustion chambers and it just trimmed. Like this. We did everything that depended on us. And it defies description. The engine was taken out waiting for the master.
28,05,09
I'm already writing
Eh! no words solid mats!
Haven't gotten through to the super duper master yurban yet!
he doesn’t pick up the phone, you can see it on the old topic for the vorovoye sensors, it’s a pity!)
It’s a pity for the work, money, time to put the engine in order again, the time of all the people involved in the swap.
in general, you still need to look for a minder who will open the block, look what's what? Well, if possible, fix the problems on the spot! everything you need is in place
Well, Igor is well done, once he spliced all the wiring, the engine started up so smoothly from the floor of a pin
Artem is also a handsome man yesterday with him in 2 hours they threw everything off at a fast pace)
29.05.09
Today I will check the heat exchanger, maybe it has tumbled (3 motorists have already said about this)
just mix 4.5 liters of oil with coolant in 10 minutes, you really need to have either a 1 cm hole in the block or stupidly do not install the gasket!
in general, I will wash the engine like this: I will
wash the oil with oil, and then I will wash everything else with water from the feri with
means for washing the engines!
how many clambered in the net did not find a single case of failure of the heat exchanger! usually with a crooked leak or crack
, the oil is expelled into the coolant, while the oil itself is clean. immediately there was a batch i.e. direct contact
01,06,09
Hi all!
The epic continues, but the light at the end of the tunnel is already visible ...
in general, they ran into this heat exchanger, and blew it this way and that, in general, it turned out not to be!
Sunday with Igor, it was decided to make out capacity! Which was done … in two hours he took it apart
, removed the camshafts, and what would they find?
Well, firstly, the head was screwed by hand.
each, the bolt is so screwed on. (Damn, I specially bought the engine manual for the minder in Russian),
although I remember when we first dismantled the three of us with a 1.5 meter pipe, they threw off their heads.
secondly, he stupidly didn’t even rub his head, i.e. when the block was shelled, then it was leveled, and this freak left his head as it was, i.e. overwhelmed.
b** the groove of the head costs 4 pieces tenge.
here's a freak! in general, the gasket from the side of the head was all in shit
from the side of the block, in some places there was perspiration
; today they gave their head to the groove.
I think we will slowly collect everything according to the manual
04,05,09
YES the same Yura!
why the name is with a small letter, but because there is no respect for this man,
he pushed this joint that at first the attackers unscrewed the head when it was lying on the titanium! then the fact that we didn’t put the motor correctly, like we had to put it on him, well, he also keeps his word like a man :)) God bless him!
radikal.ru/F/s56.radikal....u/i151/09...2eb401.jpg.html
here is a leaky gasket!
that's how Igor twisted his
head
first, you need to bait the bolts, then stretch them 35 newtons according to the scheme, then 90 degrees again according to the scheme (this is already 80 newtons) and then another 90 degrees (120 newtons)
10000% that no one does this! everything is so screwed up and that's it
about distributions, there is generally a tin! you twist everything, then you unscrew some bolts, then you twist it, then you twist the distributor again, in general, 4 times so that the shaft balances itself.
yesterday they only managed to assemble the head, with valve covers.
immediately compression appeared in the motor, and not as before, the flywheel was spinning by hand
, in general, while Volodya called up. maybe he will take
08 Jun 2009
Well, it looks like 95% is ready!
Hooray, we managed
3 times washed with flushing oil, but with the coolant for a long time you will have to bathe first washed with water from the ferry, now I wash it with water from the ferry! as long as it works.
It remains to replace the hydraulic pump and valve XX
everything else pah pah works
well and start running
09 Jun 2009
Hooray!
Supra went :) :)
As usual, it all started with the fact that a couple of hours were spent in vain with picking gidracha, flogs and everything for the life of me!
Johnyk called and he came with a new hydroch! It's a pity that he was not needed, but anyway, many thanks to John for his responsiveness.
It turned out that when they took off the tank from the gur (in the atmosphere it stands on the gur), we forgot to fasten two gasket fastening bolts from the back, that's why the siphon was full :) :) :)
In general, all the problems were fixed!
And finally overtook the car to his parking lot!
in general, the machine became very sensitive to gas, and so it decided to rush off for 3000 revolutions :)) I had to restrain myself
moreover, 2-3000 was already working full-time! (although the car was driving on 4-5 cylinders, you can see the wires from the coils are mixed up in places)
in general, the motor spins very, very easily!
the brake pedal finally became what it was before very soft and responsive.
Crap! I so wanted to spin the engine. but low!
09 Jun 2009
Don't talk! Now a friend has corrected the triple. on the 2nd and 3rd cylinders, the ignition was confused and there was one chip in the oil, tripling or quadrupling was gone,
though something pops!
the errors were reset, we’ll start running at night,
if the damn thing, even with the wires mixed up, the motor easily responded to the gas pedal, then I can’t imagine how it will go at all?
to be honest, I thought that the car would blunt at low speeds compared to the atmosphere, but there’s nothing that blunts like that, it
can be seen that the compression ratio has increased since the head was ground off by 0.3
, so now I’m happy as a boa constrictor!
June 12, 2009
Well, it's clear that I'll put less pressure on you!
until the priorities have changed, so I won’t squirm further.
What happened is enough!
The first part of the run-in on the highway was successful (I hope)
now I will wind the rest around the city. Damn, how the butt hurts, yet the seats of the Supra are not the seats of the barn!
in general, the average consumption on the highway is 10.5 liters (I thought it would be more) 93 benzyl at an average speed of 100 km / h
June 25, 2009 I
continue to tell the story about ...
In general, I spat on the run-in :)) 1200 km have already been covered, so I often grab it. Although lately there has been less and less desire to do this ... :) :)) since there are not enough brakes :) :) :)
in general, I changed a couple of valves XX found on which the revolutions are stable (well, more or less) there may be a sea of reasons for small fluctuations, so I decided to give it a go! a little later I'll look at all the wiring for short circuits and good contacts.
nevertheless, oil poured on many chips, and the engine saw a lot of dirt, so then at my leisure I’ll go through the chips with a degreaser.
In general, in terms of consumption, when sticking 16-17 liters
, if the normal mode is 15
, I didn’t drive on the highway anymore
traction in the entire range is good, the engine does not troit, it does not smoke)
I drive with a flute and with a catalytic converter, and there is no boost sensor, so I can’t check the pressure yet (I’m
more than satisfied with the result. I
got a bunch of offers to call in :) :) but I won’t install the pump yet from the turbo Supra will not call. and a friend says that it feels like the clutch is slipping for me (this is bad)
03 Sep 2009
In general, I continue to talk about the Supra:
1) I put the secrets of the HA series, I had to roll the rear arches
2) I changed the wheels I installed from Skye
3) the bumper was presented by a friend a bit kotsany but still better than stock
In general, the first turbine orders a long life (it just does not inflate the prescribed pressure, since the blades of the hot and cold parts are chipped)
At 402 meters on ordinary rubber and with a tired
turbine, the time is 13.7.
I fixed the rest of the problems so that the car works, pah pah normal
The motor has already been assembled for another week, there are no problems with wiring at all!
at first there was error 55 (the knock sensor was not connected)
and the XX valve is buggy, but this is the problem of the xx valve itself,
at the moment there is a run-in on the highway consumption of 10-11 liters
in the city 15 if you turn and drive it is 18-20
Acceleration is very, very I liked it, although I turn the engine up to 3000, but the car responds to the pedal, even compared to the aspirated car, the car drives faster
after they installed the camshafts themselves, the noise of their work has decreased significantly, a little later I will measure all the washers if necessary, replace.
in general, of course, there are no shortcomings, but they are more connected with the collective farm of the intercooler, and the installation of the power steering tank from the brand (ordered from Supra)
in general, the car came to life! :)
in the summer of 2010
In general, I buy getrag!
Until recently, I thought, is it worth it?
but once again, having set fire to the clutch on the W58, I understand that I can’t get a normal start on it
In general, I buy the following whale:
Stock flywheel + clutch + basket + working cylinder _ all sorts of bolts
Korobas 161
cardan completely
rear gearbox with a pair of 3.266
drive
wings
box beam + pillow
in the appendage goes os giken 2x disc clutch though it’s over)
but you can buy a rem kit
I gave it to the turbine for repair, now the 2nd turbine I have has a completely metal cartridge, and the first one was rebuilt, but remained ceramic. On a stock computer with cutoffs for boost (and this is in 2nd gear and 3rd) the time for 402 meters is
-13.5 stable .

Hey! Thank you) There are a lot of reports, just posted on different forums, and everything has been done for a long time. I'll slowly drag it here, maybe it will be useful to someone
What color is the smoke when the turbos are dead?
Of course, it will come in handy ... For example, about water - it was a discovery for me, although, I confess, I would probably do the same, logically. After all, the volume is the only way to measure.
So don't try in vain. :) People hawala.
Hey! Thank you) There are a lot of reports, just posted on different forums, and everything has been done for a long time. I'll slowly drag it here, maybe it will be useful to someone
Very interesting. Good reports. And about Porting too. Keep up the good work... :)
Class. Interesting boarder. I read it in one breath. It seems at first sluggish, everything is as usual for everyone, but then you can’t tear it off further along the way. At some point, I began to worry.
Accidentally stumbled, because. I was looking for someone who pulled out the motor. Currently bought aristo 2jz gte. I'm going to pull out the motor, replace the turbine, at the same time open the rings, seals, liners. Once again I was convinced of the reliability of jz, in comparison with RB.
Distilled it from Lipetsk to Orenburg, turbo dead, smokes, smokes, boils, leaky radiator, but edit. The previous turbo sky would have died immediately. Good luck, more photos of the ongoing work.
