Is all butter butter ?! - Toyota Celica, 2.0L, 1998

Is all butter butter - Toyota Celica 20L 1998

At the beginning of July, the time came for the next headache. How in the "Pentagon" (oil change point) they stopped changing the less normal oil, and became distributors of oils from the German company Ravenol, the most acute question arose, what to pour, and most importantly where ?!
But it was even in winter, I will say right away that at that time I followed the path of less resistance, called a guy I knew, a lover of annealing and asked him a similar question. To which he replied that he was pouring Motul 300v 5w-40 into his wrx sti in an iron can with a capacity of 2 liters from the guys in the Yastynskaya area at a price of 1200 rubles per bottle. Actually, it was there that I went through the next replacement.
Maybe, of course, it's stupid and tell me that from the beginning you need to think and then do it, but only after the replacement did I go to the forums and websites to find out what is now lubricating my gte ...
I did not find anything fundamentally bad. only one thing, that the oil is not intended, so to speak, for my purpose. It makes sense to fill it with those who fry on the ring or other competitive races, but I need to use it for everyday movement around the city. This means that the oil is in difficult operating conditions. If we revisit the usual day, then the average travel time is 40 minutes, then the car stops, for a long time or not, it doesn't matter, and then I drive again. So the oil heats up regularly - cools down. I think it makes no sense to say that frequent temperature changes are not good for the chemical composition of the liquid.
So, the warmest month in Siberia has begun - July. =) Another replacement after 5000 km. What to change 300v for? = dilemma ... After sitting for a couple of evenings on gt-four.ru (thanks guys for answering all the questions that arise), I decided to pour the same Motul, only to change the series to 8100 X-cess 5w-40. According to all tolerances, the oil is more suitable for urban driving style, and also the price is not so transcendental (400 rubles per liter) It is not difficult to find an official representative of this brand of oil, in Krasnoyarsk it is Sibintek.
It's too early to say anything specific about this oil. It seems to me that a pleasant smooth engine sound will come from almost any oil that has just been changed, time will tell.

PS I asked how much Motul 300v costs now ... 1850 rubles for a 2 liter can of O_o and this is a rise in price in 5 months. I am writing the price of the question taking into account the replacement of the air and oil filters

Price tag: 2 060 ₽

The main thing is that Motul does not start to fake, otherwise there will be practically no replacement for it for turbo engines :(

I don't think that Motul is a panacea, we just live in such a country that it is difficult to guess whether it is a fake or not ... In fact, any real synthetic oil must cope with the task and the fact that I pour a motel is more my version of the variety. I think if someone has a similar question, it will be easier for him to look at a real example than at possible assumptions. Those. in fact, I also made decisions about what to fill thanks to the experience of other people who own a similar engine, and not on the advice of oil replacers who have what they have in stock and offer.

you are right shake good oil. and I think it's class. and the oil I pour is also good. this is also a proven company by many people and personally by me, I have been on it for 5 years as a hedgehog and have never let it down. I agree with you it is necessary to ride a proven product than experiment.

Hello! I have a friend whose example fits the situation. Owns Subaru Legacy B4 RSK (2.0 twin turbo). The oil is changed every 5000 km. For some time, pouring Motul-I can't say anything bad, ester oils are a fairy tale ... I was at the presentation, and the reviews from the owners are a weighty argument ... Then he switched to "Moli" with molybdenum (5W40), he was also pleased, except for the price tag. At the moment I switched to Ravenol HLS 5W30 ... You should have heard these shouts of delight))) I swear that you believe everything))) For a minute, 5 liters HLS - 1350 forever wooden.
