Brakes - Toyota RAV4, 2.0L, 2001
Uneven wear of the pads was noticed on the equalizer + they creaked terribly. The front right ones to be replaced were zero, and the left ones were only 50%. Accordingly, one of the working cylinders wedged. We decided to change the brake fluid. Traveled for a month, but the situation has not changed, tk. lacquer deposits on the cylinder walls were already indelible by that time. I bought a repair kit for the calipers (Cuffs, anthers, caps and washers) and went through them. The creak is gone, I haven't measured even wear yet, but I think it will be normal.
While changing the calipers and drums painted in a cheerful color. Judge for yourself =)
The special paint for brakes is heat-resistant. Not from a spray can, applied with a brush. Drying, it turns into a coating on the internal structure similar to paralon, which, after calcination, tightens the parts and hardens.
Price tag: 2 000 ₽There will be pictures) The current from the mobile turns out to take a photo, tk. the phone is at hand, but I forget to take the camera from home.
Mercy side) Approach is the most important thing. Wait for replenishments, the car in the garage is on the goats. Shaking up the suspension.
Taking off my hat. Everything is done soundly. I was too lazy with disassembly when I painted the calipers, sealed everything unnecessary with film, newspapers, and from a spray. It turned out, too, nothing, BUT, you have your own approach - YOUNG.
I often see red, yellow is more suitable for the color of the car + it is so cheerful =)
And in the AUTOCAMP store, someone stole half of the paint kit from other packages. The sealed one was only yellow, so I took it. By the way, I liked him the most. The color is called Power Yellow.
Wow, it's very cool, why did the choice fall on yellow and not on red for example: o)
The pads squeaked himself could not understand why 2 years. In addition, they wore out unevenly on the right and left wheels. Then he caught up. Wear due to wedging of the caliper (lacquer deposits in the cylinder due to untimely replacement of brake fluid), and the squeak was probably due to the fact that the pads were not installed correctly. They seem to be the same, but they had to be put in a certain order. If you look at the squeaks and pads where they touch the squeaks, you will understand everything. + a rivet on the block of the pads can be a good hint, I have it exactly under the piston, because the pistons are offset from the center of the caliper (a feature of my calipers, you may have others).
+ sanded discs, tk. the block was smeared on the disc with a non-compressing caliper.
In general, after all these manipulations, the creak no longer appeared.
hi, listening to i didn’t even catch up because of what your pads squeaked (creaked)? I've been struggling with the squeak for almost 1.5 years and so far no results =)
The saying "Everything that is not done everything is done for the best" is again confirmed;)
I had these considerations, well, the red one had already opened in the store and stole something from there.
