Recording, July 14, 2010 — Toyota Corolla Levin, 1.6 liter, 1993

 14 2010 Toyota Corolla Levin 16 1993

Sensors installed: oil pressure and temperature, boost sensor in place of the central deflector of the stove, because I do not use it, and there is no desire to pile up a bunch of everything in front of the glass.
Oil changed to Liqui Moly, German.
For the 2nd break-in period, I chose semi-synthetics 10W50 Molygen. Light green oil =) It is very clearly visible in the sun =)

After a run of about 50-70 thousand impeccable and actively-aggressive driving, the super strat died. And somehow immediately and seriously. Within a week, it became simply unrealistic to rattle and there was a feeling that the wheels were about to fall off =)
One of these days I'll go to the pit and find out what exactly died. To replace there is a second set of levers and racks.
For a replacement, in any case, I’ll immediately buy ball joints, links and bushings of stabilizers on the front and back.
As always, I will approach the problem in a complex manner =)))

Yes, it’s not very good, but everything you need is shown =)

Is 10w50 semi-synthetic?

why not 10-60 then for a run-in? :) :)

Please pay attention to the photo, Mr. Do you have any more questions, or will we continue to be smart and ask stupid questions? =)

it's not a joke, I really didn't think 10w50 could be semi-synthetic.

but for a run-in one fig is a tin))

Mineral water for running in is not used because of cheapness. but because of its properties. VVega painted everything.

Mineral water is used for running in because of its cheapness. And as you know, it is within a radius of 15W60.
This canister costs 1700 something, but it is cheaper than 5W50 moligen, in the very famous lilac canister that people love so much =)
So I wouldn’t talk about tin, we have a constant heat, so that it, in addition to the heat, loses its viscosity greatly. In general, you are not right =)))

Well, they write something like this:
First, let's try to answer the question: do you need a run-in of a new car? Recommendations regarding the running-in of new cars of domestic and foreign automakers are different. Our experts recommend running in new cars during the first thousand kilometers without fail. Many foreign automakers are confident in the high-quality production technologies of their cars and believe that running in a new car is not necessary. However, this is a very controversial issue. A modern passenger car is fast, comfortable, reliable, but all these qualities are ensured only if all the requirements of the operating instructions are strictly followed, with the obligatory observance of maintenance periods, the use of gasoline, oils and various liquids that are recommended by the plant. The life of a vehicle depends to a large extent on its operation during the first break-in period. At this time, the driver requires increased attention and special care for the new car. The run-in duration is set at 1000-2000 km. The long-term and trouble-free operation of the car largely depends on the running-in of parts in the initial period of operation.

Engine break-in, as a rule, is carried out during the first thousand kilometers.
After starting the engine, do not allow a high engine crankshaft speed in order to exclude heating due to increased friction of parts that have not been run in to each other (for example, a cylinder and a piston) to an emergency temperature. If the speed is high, the parts overheat, and the metal expands under the influence of heat, absorbing the gaps set for normal operation, which leads to negative consequences. This leads to wear of the working surfaces of the parts. An overheated engine will further affect the increased oil consumption, and thick gray smoke will begin to come out of the exhaust pipe. Do not start off at full throttle, press the accelerator pedal to failure. Try to avoid sudden acceleration, long-term driving at a constant speed, both at high and low speeds, driving on heavy roads (deep mud, sand,

Vehicle load Mileage Load Speed, km/h
0-200 No load <40±5
200-800 50% of rated load <60±5
800-1500 75% of rated load <80±5
1500-2500 Rated load <100±5

Do not forget to shift to a lower gear in time according to driving conditions, commensurate with the crankshaft speed and driving speed, avoiding engine overload at low crankshaft speed. When driving the first 300 km, a sudden stop of the engine should be avoided. Do not drive with a cold engine. The oil and filter can only be changed after the first thousand kilometers. It is forbidden to tow a trailer during the break-in period. It is undesirable to exceed the maximum permissible speed.

Maximum allowable speed of movement Type of transmission Speed, km/h
First 12
Second 20
Third 30
Direct 45-50
Other automotive components and assemblies also need to be run in, the working surfaces of which are also not adjusted to each other and therefore are sources of increased friction. Hard braking during the first hundreds of kilometers is undesirable. Normal running-in of new brake pads occurs over a distance of 300 km, during which you should brake smoothly and with medium intensity. Do not forget to monitor the temperature of the brake drums and, in case of significant heating, adjust the brakes; the temperature of the wheel hubs and with their significant heating, loosen the tightening of the bearings; pipeline connections, if a leak of oil, fuel, cooling and brake fluids is detected, eliminate it; tire pressure; the condition of all vehicle mountings.

Some automotive components need to be run-in not only when the car is new. After a major overhaul, complete disassembly and assembly of complex units (engine, gearbox, automatic transmission, gearboxes), after replacing the brake pads, it is necessary to observe similar restrictions and recommendations. After a run of 2000-2500 km, the break-in period ends, and you can start normal operation of the car.
