Collapse — Toyota Corolla, 1.5 liter, 1997

In order for the car to stand straight on the road surface, it would be logical to place the wheels in the structure just as straight. However, almost all designers of modern cars, even at the stage of developing new models, deliberately “turn out” the wheels. This technological feature is called "toe-in" or "toe-out".

The explanation for such an illogical at first glance approach to the creation of a car, which is considered to be a collapse of a convergence or a collapse of the collapse, is quite simple. The fact is that a direct suspension design pays off only when the car is in a static position, on a perfectly flat surface and has a balanced load. In this case, the principle of camber or convergence collapse is really not needed. But the machine involves movement, moreover, on an uneven surface and with an uneven load.

It is enough for the driver to sit behind the wheel and start moving, as the ideal balance instantly disappears, and the suspension elements change their configuration. To restore balance, tire fitting and wheel alignment are necessary. If there are passengers in the cabin, the balance changes in the other direction, creating an uneven load and the need to use camber. And if we also take into account that there are no ideally even roads, that movement occurs not only in a straight line and without a slope, we have to admit that camber as the most important principle of suspension design is the only possible way out of this situation.

The result of applying the principle of camber or camber is considered to be an increase in vehicle stability and controllability, fuel economy, as well as a reduction in the load on the suspension and steering system.

After I saw that the front tires, along the inner contour, were worn out evenly in a circle, I decided to go to the service station.
Also, when cornering, even at low speeds, the rubber began to squeal ...
I had to throw the front rubber back ...
