Changed ... brake pad - Toyota Carina, 1.8 liter, 1989
The first serious joint came up today. Decided to change pads. Sort of like a business. And everything went fine - the left front wheel was quickly twisted, the guide on the caliper went with a bang, the pads were really worn down to iron ... In general, everything is as usual. Changed, screwed, lowered. But then misadventures began - the right caliper did not move along the guide at all. It was bent only with the use of a hammer. But the pads on it were almost like new. The result of all this is that the caliper piston did not want to be pressed in, the caliper itself turned out to be jammed, well, to the heap, while the piston was pressed in, the bolt was bent :) By that time it was completely dark, all the stores were closed and we decided to put the old pads back on the jammed side and do everything in a normal way already tomorrow, i.e. buy a caliper, change it and bleed the brakes in a circle. Handbrake lamp. After changing the pads, the light stopped. To brake the machine, even at three points of braking, has become clearly better.
Here is such a story. Its moral is as follows:
1. If the pads wear out unevenly, this is bad
2. WD-40 will not help with a jammed caliper
3. I don’t know how you can press the piston in any other way without completely removing the caliper, but you should not use fierce efforts to bend the fasteners bolts!
4. If it is possible to change everything to the service station, change it to the service station.
I wanted to film the whole process and make a photo report, but it was already dark - the pictures turned out dull.
Issue price: 905 ₽If there is a drum behind, advice to you - go to the service station. Disassembling and assembling the drum yourself is a tryndets.
My front ones are half worn out, but the rear ones are already creaking. gotta get together and do it.

I'm on eights and nines, I know how it is. if it is structurally the same, then in principle the norms. I will do) I did not understand yet. and I don't know what pads are needed there =)
By the way. in the manual. what he gave you. all the nuances of replacing the pads in the drum are described in detail. And here are a couple of very useful links: toyota.epcdata.ru/carina/st170/ - diagrams and codes for spare parts and 1001z.ru - you can already order here.
With pads - elementary. You come to the motor city, for example, you say that you need pads for the st-170 carina - front and rear, back - on the drum. A set of front ones cost me 900 rubles. In principle, not so expensive :) And then the owner of the BMW X5 once shared his experience - "I had an iPhone. I sold it - I changed the pads" :)
