Continuation of the epic - Toyota Caldina, 2.0 liter, 1997

So let's continue:
In December 2009, I decided to do the same engine more tightly. According to observations, during operation, gases began to break into the expansion tank and inflate it, the lid also ended due to the oil-antifreeze composition of the coolant and all this began to be accompanied by steam from under the hood (just like in the second Fast and the Furious, only unintentionally =))).

And then there was also planned a trip to the village to visit relatives more than 400 kilometers from the city. To be honest in the car, I was not sure and decided to try to fix it.

I bought a new cylinder head gasket (~ 1000 rubles), a pump (~ 1800 rubles) and gave the car to minders. The repair dragged on for a week and a half (I just don’t remember exactly) due to the master’s illness.

The cylinder head was measured and polished, the purchased spare parts were changed, fresh TCL antifreeze was filled in, a new radiator cap was installed, Liqui Moly AA SM 5w-30 oil was filled in, almost all cooling system pipes had to be replaced, as well. they… That's right! From the inside they were covered with the same emulsion. At the autopsy, it turned out that the motor had already been opened (sorry for the tautology), and, most likely, even more than once in Russia. But the cylinder head is not yet in the worst condition. (!) Instead of an iron multilayer cylinder head gasket, there was a soft mm ... uh ... well, in general, as they used to be on the Zhiguli (paranitic chtoli).

Go! The joy was short-lived, it got better of course, but the problem did not completely go away. Just the frequency of overheating has become lower. However, this did not prevent us from going to the village and back. And there, by the way, the thermometer dropped over -50 degrees at times. Defa helped a lot here, coals from the stove and old mattresses with quilted jackets thrown over the hood =)))
