To Iceland by car — logbook Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 1998
So, what we have been preparing for for more than a year has come to pass, digging in the Internet, looking for maps, reports of tourists who have been there, searching and communicating with local off-road conquerors, virtual overflights of the island in Google, preparing equipment and much more. The plan was executed by 101% and without any unexpected unpleasant adventures.
Yes, just in case, I explain, we are talking about Iceland, an island on earth, which can be safely called a piece of another planet, and we were able to verify this.
There are a lot of impressions, emotions, photos and other positive things, and it is right out of us, and I want to share all this. Especially considering the paucity of information about Iceland in general and details in particular.
There are diary outlines, preparation notes, contacts who helped in the preparation and conduct of this unforgettable trip. Many thanks to all of them and I will write about them below.
There is so much information that it seems impossible to cram it into the “.doc†format, but gradually I will do it. For what? Yes, just to acquaint those who cannot get there with this country and what we saw. To share information with those who want to go by car to Iceland and maybe push someone to go there in the “right carâ€.
I will not write everything in the form of a diary like: were, saw, ate, drank, etc. To a greater extent, I will try to write about the preparation, difficulties, give a description of the regions of Iceland and the interest in visiting them, although it is clear that all this will be subjective and does not claim to be 100% true, because even the “black square of Malevich†does not seem to everyone to be “black and square." Well, and when it will be impossible to get around some situations with our participation, then I will write a few lines about it.
There will be many photos in the report. Much more of them were taken (at times), but a little more than 300 photographs were selected for the report, all of them are optimized for the size of 800x531 except for one - a map of the island, which will be replenished with notes and explanations from section to section, its size is 1M, I will link to it give a separate line for those who are interested.
NONE OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED IN ANY PROGRAM, ALL ARE PROVIDED "AS THE CAMERA HAS BEEN TAKEN". With this, I immediately answer the question about "unreal sky, too bright colors, red grass, etc." Sometimes a polarizing filter was used, but usually there was a UV filter. Camera "Nikon D90".
Very often there was not enough sun, and if in the first week it pampered us more often, then in the second week it appeared very rarely, which greatly affected the quality of the photographs, but did not greatly interfere with the vivid imagination and appreciation of the surrounding beauties. Therefore, they photographed in the conditions that they were, incl. and in the rain.

Alas, I already posted the report earlier on the "profile" website of "Pradik", the format for uploading photos "here" is different from "there", and I will not have enough time and energy to transfer more than 300 photos again.
The first part of eleven is here: www.prado-club.su/forum/index.php?topic=27971.0
First I went through the search engines, I found a report, its full version ... I was amazed. And the report, and the island, and your enthusiasm! Well done!
Thank you for the kind words. There is a desire to return there again, the central regions were left "overboard" (a significant part), so that "not all the paths have been passed yet")))
I went to type in the search engine as you said!-) Then I'll be back!
Found it!-) Nifigase is written!-) Respect to you.
amazing trip. Haven't read it yet, but looking forward to it! I will read cover to cover
Thank you for the assessment of the work))) I also drew with pens, the track was written during the day, then overwritten. But the whole route is in memory))))
It will be necessary, I'm trying to figure out how to draw a route. Unfortunately, the track was not written, so you will have to draw with pens.
Great report, kudos!
Do you have a map of your itinerary in Iceland? (I saw the report of 2 parts, but did not consider the general route).
From the point of view of saturation, the frequency of landscape changes, and unusualness, I completely agree with the F910. If in terms of adrenaline - F206 at night in dense clouds. And we didn’t get (not included in the plans due to time constraints) to F26, F208, F235 and there are still worthy places in the vicinity of F910. But that's next time. Most importantly, we know where to go. If only we were lucky with the weather.
Well done!
But the central part and the "track" of the F910 we remember most of all during the trip, indescribable views and sensations!
cool trip!
I really don’t agree about the info about Iceland. There’s a lot of it, even on the Drive there’s a lot of it!
and Welcome to the central part, there is where to go!
I just mean that in the blitz rules:
"A comment is a meaningful text with a length of at least 10 characters. The following is prohibited on the site: any mention of ratings, swearing of all kinds, transition to personalities, translitom texts or in any foreign language, explanations in capital letters and blatantly illiterate expression of one's thoughts. Be careful, especially stupid comments and any swear words are removed from the site along with the authors! See also Site Rules."
... there are no mentions of addresses of other domains other than drive*.ru, so I think there is nothing so terrible in this)
Many sites really do not like links to other sites, but therefore did not indicate the link.
The footage is awesome in the report! Great! It's like we went and watched...
ps but as for the search engine ... I'd rather leave the link, some difficulties, for example, arise with Google ...
That's why it's hard to bring it here. There is no problem with the text, but it’s hard to upload and link photos in a new way.
there is a lot to see there, but with a sailboat it was just lucky - the paths converged
