Gaplyk-Trophy`10: Lemonade Joe in TP3 — logbook Toyota Land Cruiser 1978
When I showed up in TP3 before the start of the competition, I could not have imagined that our crew and Lemonade Joe on 32 wheels would be able to pass all the trophies next to 36-37 Boggers, TESals, Super Swampers and just 35 Simexs.
But thanks to the weather, we not only passed both SSs (mandatory - dry, and optional - wet), we took all the points except one.

When we approached her at the beginning of the trophy, I thought that by morning she would become noticeably lighter, and then it would be possible to take risks ... No luck.
Well, not only did we do all of that. We did it on one rear wheel drive. It so happened that on the "dry" and mandatory SS2 I got another wheel under the left front wheel, or rather a disk from a truck. And since I did not turn off the front lock, then ... an unpleasant metallic squeal hinted that something had happened. I turned off the front and continued to swans.
In general, the fact that I do not have a front lock, I noticed earlier, but the fact that the front-wheel drive does not - only after taking five points. Masha and I were saddened, and since the second crew had not had a charge for an hour, we realized that in the darkness that had come, we had a road to the finish line. Still, one winch and three drive axles for two cars in TP3 are insulting to other participants in the race ...
But on the way to the finish line, leading the 70-ku on emergency glimpses of the last milliamp hours, we remembered that there is another Land Cruiser that we still owe for the Gorgans. These guys found us a weld. And we decided that when we bring the de-energized 70-ku to the camp, we will go in search of our colleagues and maybe we can help them with something.
In general, it so happened that colleagues found themselves, then there was taking points under the bridge, then driving to a dry SS1, then a swim in a wet SS2, and ... we found someone with whom we can try to continue our trophy. Cool company - that's what I started to wean on the trophy from the championship series. Still, the club trophy has its own special taste.
Since the Land Cruiser was clearly going to prizes, and it seems that it no longer needed our help, we went with Patrol TR2, for whom everything worked, but one pilot was forced to urgently leave for Kiev. So we went, taking points TP3 and TP2 along the way ...
And finally, a way was found to clone Masha: you just need to take two or three jeeps without navigators, and you're done - all the pilots will not be left without work.

OK. The event is called the Carpathian Cordon. The format is a linear raid without elements of sports. You just need to drive through the mountains and valleys through the ridges and passes.

Yes, but there are people who understand that lawns should be mowed little by little and for a long time. This is being implemented with gradual amendments: last year in TP1 the maximum rubber was 32 inches, and next year it will be 33. But with the same width. And next year, you can add width, if nothing else comes up.
They also introduce a new class - 33 free. Everything seems to be correct, but for sure next year they will make adjustments at our expense.
It's a lot. They will make TP3 cutlet like ours - only the wealthiest 3-4 crews and their helpers will remain. Intrigues will begin, a war of protests, etc.
In our championship, as far as I know, there will be several stages in general abroad. In Latvia it seems exactly, where I don’t remember yet.
It’s not just for me to participate, even as a spectator it’s not very interesting to ride, well, for me personally.

The trouble is that our organizers also want cutlet dough. And as a deadly argument, they use the example of the RAF - and ... blah blah blah unification of rules and technical regulations ...
But we still have a fairly well-developed club and party alternative movement, which, in principle, also wants dough, but has not yet got used to it. Therefore, there are such non-format and non-sports-oriented trophies like GAPLYK.
And in the recent past, there were just bright individuals who could almost single-handedly make an excellent trophy. But their extermination under the banner of the FAA has already been taken up by newly-minted functionaries from our ranks.
But in vain. For example, your format is more interesting to me, purely as a viewer, even.
