Fuel filter replacement — logbook Toyota Hilux Surf 1997
The fuel filter on the 3RZ-FE engine in this model is located under the intake manifold. Therefore, to change it, you need to remove the injector, then the intake manifold. Surprisingly, all nuts and bolts are unscrewed very easily. It looks like you can get to the filter without removing the intake manifold. However, the lower filter mounting bolt cannot be unscrewed in any way. And the filter itself cannot be pulled out of the mount without removing the filter. Experiencing such difficulties when replacing, you pull with a replacement to "melt". Until the engine starts to slow down. It is interesting that the filter can also come across with a different direction of entry, rotated 90 degrees. Have to chemistry with the mount. But the work is worth it. Traction improves immediately. But with our gasoline filters have to be changed often.
On a Hayes Regius with the same engine, it was necessary to remove the wheel. Then you could climb up.
I myself was in shock, and then my eyes are afraid and my hands do it, and that’s it, the second time I’ll probably change it to “cheers†...
Fastening the fuel filter, unscrewed the upper bolt with an extension, and the lower left front wheel had to be unscrewed and also unscrewed with an extension without removing the intake manifold. You need "pianist's hands"))))
I don’t understand anything, I have a firebox next to the air filter, I have 2.7 gasoline 3RZ.
Probably the problem is that I have a 215 body Toyota Hilux Surf 2.7 3 RZ SSR X 2002)))
Now it will not be possible to do this, since we repair only one brand, Subaru. I used to change them like seeds when I worked in another service.

Despite the fact that I sold the surf 6 years ago, I remember that removing the wheel will not help matters, if you have a photo, post it!
Why complicate things so much? Take off the left front wheel and here it is. Changes in 10 minutes...
