Winter swap, or what is 1UZ-FE vvt-i and what it is eaten with, or how we grabbed grief ... - Toyota Soarer, logbook 4.0, 1991

I decided to replace the engine and join the beautiful, I wanted not the old large volumetric atmotor, but a new one, and so that it was also technological and economical)), otherwise everyone in the country is talking about Eco and nano.
The choice fell on 1UZ-FE VVT-i.
This miracle was purchased in Vladivostok. It came to us in 10 days, and woe, it arrived without a problem.
Finding a percentage to drive such a motor turned out to be a problem, because the percentage for such a motor is outrageously cunning, and there are 2 types of them. Without a built-in immobilizer (they are either sharp like mammoths or burnt) and with a built-in one. After long and swearing negotiations with Vladivostok, they sent me a percent with a built-in immobilizer, but without a chip key and related equipment for starting the engine ((
Fortunately, I got such a percent in a complete set at an auction in Yapii, we rejoiced and immediately purchased it. we are still waiting for the shipment.

Removed the old motor

     1UZ-FE vvt-i Toyota Soarer 40 1991

And they started to shove a new one, and then it started:
- the pan does not get up, it has a front location, it needs to be rear, they removed it from the old motor
- the air conditioner compressor does not go through the tubes, so far there is no solution - there
is no fuel return on the new motor, it was decided with using a fuel regulator and 3 meters of tuned fuel hoses.
— You need a new maf, and the entire intake tract with a box for an air filter. The old one does not fit, the throttle position of the new motor is not where the old one is. They took a new MAF on the existential, the tract will most likely have to be made from a metal pipe.
— you need a new gas cable, the old one is short, again, the location of the throttle. We took a new ytrosik assembly from 80 turbo supra))
— vvt-i turns out to have 4 lambdas, 2 on the engine, 2 after the catalysts, now we are looking for 2 of these lambdas and not very dead catalysts.
— Hoses of the stove, hydraulics and a lot of small things does not fit, everything is looked for — it is selected.
In general, what is not a day is a holiday)

Automatic transmission, we will install a 5-speed automatic A650E, those brains that come to us can only steer them)) In addition, it is on the clutches, there may not be a problem with the cardan. There will be a new box - there will be an understanding of how to live on))

Mono kanechtno to splice 2 prots. Your old one from the 340th will steer the motor, the new one from the 761st will steer a pure box. or use a special box control unit (I forgot what it is called, these are sold on tururV.ru)

You need to pay attention to the speed sensor. We have a hall sensor in 340, it is in the shank of the box. from it, the readings go to percent, and the percent correctly steers the engine. On new cars (sc430), the readings are abs, and our old percent does not understand this signal.
with our old abs, too, the signal is not like. mono, of course, try to transfer the shank from the 340th box to the 761st. I tried from 340 to 651st, the central shaft did not fit.

In the end, I left my 340th automatic, I drive it with AEM

Post more info on the transmission. I also thought about changing my 340 but I wanted to put 761 on 6 gears from Sc430, how will you solve the issue with the bells? Will relatives get up or will there be chemistry? The bolt pattern on the block is the same but can be of different lengths ... in general, lay out more ... very interesting
