Clutch replacement — logbook Toyota Celica 1999

   Toyota Celica 18 1999

Well, last weekend I got around to changing the clutch ... or rather, it wasn’t my hands, but circumstances forced it, the stock began to slip heavily ... having previously agreed and received consent to operate the garage in which there is a lift, early in the morning I had to fill up the entire trunk and interior with a tool and crawl there ... by lunchtime, everything was safely sorted out with a quiet glanders, but there wasn’t enough strength to remove the box alone, I had to call 2 friends, sleeping peacefully, for help ... After their quick arrival, the box was safely removed and fuss began with the old clutch ... when it was removed, there was no surprise to my surprise limit, the disk was almost whole and untouched, only the edge 1 cm wide at the end of the disk just burned out, as if he always clung to her ... after removing the hitch, the flywheel was carefully dismantled and my friends left for their own business ... and then I started to get hysterical as I remembered that I needed a couple more hands to tighten the new lightweight flywheel, I had to ask another person who immediately rushed in and helped ...
then we sat and chatted for about three hours until the rest returned to put the box back in ... the car was assembled by the evening almost to the end, but since I was already too lazy, I left a little in the morning ...
And now, probably the most interesting thing ... the feeling of the new carbon-Kevlar clutch ... The first time I started it on a lift, touched the pedal and it instantly failed, I got scared, let it go, the pedal fell into place ... turned on the first speed, stuck in easily, revved, second, the third, fourth, I stopped ... everything just sticks in, there is no effort on the clutch pedal at all (I don’t even know which car to compare with) ... I have 300 km / h on the speedometer, a friend pinned it, let’s put the speedometer ... we tried to spin it up to 260, then the car became a pity (this everything is on a hung car without wheels) ... we put on the wheels, an attempt to leave the garage ... I check the speed with the clutch depressed, everything turns on, it’s just easy, like a ball flies into the hole ... I start off, stalled ... stalled again ... a little more gas, the car flies out with a jerk from the garage … having driven I understand there is no preload, only incl.off, you don’t feel it in the city at all ... it strains in traffic jams or the car trembles a little when you start off with low gas, or it slips if you throw a little firewood into the stove (I hope I’ll get used to it quickly) ... while I’m running in ... they say 10000 km is necessary, but the winter is long, but I drive a lot ... yesterday I could not resist and decided to spin the car, wheel slip all three gears (there was no ice, the asphalt was dry) ... pants full of joy ...
Conclusion ... there is nothing so terrible in riding ceramics (I tried on Golf 4, for which we bought ceramics) and carbon-kevlar, it’s convenient, quite comfortable and easy ... I’m very satisfied and have never regretted it, but I’ll get used to wearing both to another, because now it’s impossible to slip the clutch ... many
thanks for the help of Rich, Druge, Vinill and the moral support of Samael ...

it seems to me that it’s better to put ceramics on gt-four, carbon-kevlar needs to be properly rolled in order to work for a long time ...
