Replacement, perevarka thresholds, rear wheel arches. — Toyota Corolla Levin, 1.5 liter, 1985
Picking thresholds led to the conclusion that you need to change. We cut out, rake out the ground, it’s dofigische again, clean it from the inside, cut out rusty places ... clean it up ...
We weld a new amplifier under the amplification jack, as I understand it ... We process the whole thing with an acid agent. The repair threshold from the VAZ 2101-07 was taken as a new threshold , having slightly changed the place of the bend, it rises with a bang. True, the thickness of the metal will be thinner, but it's better than such a holey one. The issue price is 180 rubles, budget. Cooking, grinding...
The threshold is ready, it's time for the rear left arch. It was also already overcooked, but it was not done very carefully, rust started and in general everything is somehow crooked ... we cut off all this disgrace along with the fender liner, it was also redone ... The old Levin wings were taken as a repair arch, besides they are wider standard. According to measurements, it is + 25mm from the native one, which pleases, it will be possible to indulge in spacers))) I tore off the old patch inside the arch, removed it from there with a bucket of dirt, slag ... made it easier at the same time))) ... and made a new one. Carbon dioxide is running out, I'm saving … I stripped the arch to the metal, from welding it swelled the putty that was on it. I don’t understand at all, the whole machine is in a layer of putty, I sin on liquid putty, I don’t know if it’s good or bad ... But where there is no flask everywhere, although the metal is even. They began to pick up the right arch, it turned out to be generally a composite of two halves  . It was apparently hushed up before straightening, they took and welded a piece of the arch ... not the best solution ... We cut it off, we clean it ... We try it on, bend it, grab it and cook it ... but it’s already cold outside, but it’s necessary to do it ... It remains to weld from the inside, the most inconvenient for me look, you’ll crawl up the hell ... They also mowed when they were cooking, they made a dent on the wing. That is, he pressed the arch, grabbed it, etc ... and did not notice how he made a bulge on the wing, and when he noticed the arch was already rigidly welded. Then I had to pervert to bend it back ... That is, he pressed the arch, grabbed it, etc ... and did not notice how he made a bulge on the wing, and when he noticed the arch was already rigidly welded. Then I had to pervert to bend it back ... That is, he pressed the arch, grabbed it, etc ... and did not notice how he made a bulge on the wing, and when he noticed the arch was already rigidly welded. Then I had to pervert to bend it back ...
Right threshold. The same procedure as the left one ... The internal state is more or less intact, the amplifier is intact, a little rust, but these are trifles ... The second threshold was already made much faster and more fun))) Tips and comments are welcome =)
In Novokuznetsk, for example, it is not dense ... In general, there will be more snow than last year.

Of course there is))) And there is so much snow that you can’t get through, you can’t drive. It hasn't been like this for a long time. In the photo, the process is a month old, maybe a little more. In our area, there is almost always as much snow as in Tashtagol (Sheregesh), whoever was there will understand =)
This year it is similar in the whole area of snow, as in Sheregesh :)

In fact, it turned out to be not so difficult ... And I even liked it)))
And it depends on where it is with points or penetrations. thresholds, arches and similar attachments where there are no large fur. point loading is sufficient. Body, spars with penetrations of 10-15mm every 4-5 cm. Something like that. Solid seams are not desirable.
But what didn’t lead to weld the thresholds so solidly? I weld in 2-3 centimeters ...
Rust appears from the wrong technology, or simply from the time when everything is already "blooming". Metal must be prepared. Bare metal, especially seams, are treated with acidic (it is also pickling) primer, then ordinary or epoxy (it does not allow oxygen to pass through) primer, and only then seam sealant and paint. I use NOVOLovsky sealant, it costs 250 rubles, but it's average, but it suits me.

I then go through all the seams with a seam sealant, isolate them. It turns out the same tightness as with a continuous seam.
I have some seams with them missed from the factory and just the same there is rust and rot in one place ... somehow I don’t trust seam sealants now! tell me what kind of sealant you used and did you process the metal before coating and how in advance ATP ?!

I heard that moisture gets under the points and uncooked seams and welding comes with tweezers ...
That's why I cut it all the way. =

Soon the time will come and I restore thresholds.
Do you leave dots like this? Or do you do it all the time?
great when you have hands from the right place, knowledge and equipment! forward to the dream car (mine, but only dream you do))
But sometimes it’s better to work alone, it’s calmer, otherwise we basically have a war with each other ... keys, hammers fly)))) But it’s more fun and more convenient.
As they say, one head is good, but two is better! =)
And even more so with four hands!
thanks) But it's better you come to us, to Moscow, I don't want to))) With your traffic jams, with your prices ... nope. We have bread for another 8 rubles, but benz 92nd 21:70 costs. We are not bad here.)
Fuck! It took us about 4 kg of wire and 1.5 cylinders of carbon dioxide for the entire welding-reboiling of the body ... But we didn’t succeed with a seam, I sinned on inexperience, and when a new cylinder was loaded, it flooded! Cooking has become much easier ... apparently some kind of sour carbon dioxide was before ...
from nothing, iron sheet 2mm. cut to size and welded with a continuous seam
spent 4 coils of wire for a semi-automatic machine and 3 cylinders of carbon dioxide
I was also afraid to get into it, I was already starting to smoke the topic of how it all changes ... And why did you set the thresholds and amplifiers?
everything was not very sad, but YOU are still doing well, gaining skill and experience,
and I changed the amplifiers, and thresholds, and the reverse sides of the thresholds and floors to the spars
in, I did a similar procedure, listen, how did you do the rear arches? a little misunderstood tell me huh?
The inner fender liner was simply built up with a strip of metal and welded to the side of the new arch. So the easiest thing to do according to the factory system, besides, if you put wide slippers, it will not snort. I have detailed photos of the process in bortovik ae86-club.ru/index.php?/t…D1%80%D0%B8/page__st__140
Hello San))) This is the most frequently asked question. Yes, I myself already want to quickly collect all this miracle on wheels. So I'll let you know how it goes, and ride too =)
Thanks. With good materials and the right technology for many years, depending on the operation. For example, we are lucky in this regard, we do not have reagents, there is little salt, mostly sand, slag, or no one cleans the road at all =) In general, time will tell!
Well done! Giant work))) and great enthusiasm)))
I would like to clarify))) and how much such machinations will save the body from further rusting?
And how are the arches and thresholds processed from the inside? or is there no need for this?
It is these arches from the front fenders of my car. I also changed the rear arches on Karina, I didn’t bother, but went a hundred, chose a pair of front fenders of foreign cars, orthoped the arch from them and welded them on. That is, look for the front fenders and cook on the back))
Please tell me where these arches come from, I urgently need to turn the bottom of the rear fenders?! but I can't choose!
Great work done! I, too, need to digest the rear arches, only now someone is not taken!
