winter version - Toyota Celica, 2.0 liter, 1998

   Toyota Celica 20 1998

winter decided to ride on 15x discs, rubber — proven Gislaved Nord Frost 5.
ps . wheels — stock from the 21st body Kaldina,

Proezdil year. There was an understanding of the car in different operating modes, now you can compare the dynamics and handling with your former Caldina GT and GTT to a greater extent.
The first emotions were as follows: acceleration pleases, mechanics allows you to feel the motor, excellent sound in the range of 5-7 tons. Sometimes it seemed that the car could not withstand the trajectory, in some places on Kaldino it turned out better. Turned out to be the rubber. Selick is more demanding on rubber. Finally convinced of this summer, on dry land. The dynamics of the all-wheel drive Kaldina, especially on the honest (relative to GT) all-wheel drive GT-T, did not depend on the condition of the rubber in the same way as on the Selick. On the Selick, there is immediately a lack of grip, depending on the condition of the rubber.
Also noticed oversteer. Or simply throwing the rear axle. It is especially noticeable if you have to additionally turn the steering wheel in a turn, or brake ... most likely because of the short base and light ass. One way or another, but this was not the Kaldino. On the GT, only the demolition of the front axle, the GT-T, however, at certain speeds, could sweep backwards under the gas.
Celica is more willing to dive into any turn. Kaldina does this with less desire due to the higher center and greater mass (speech is just stock). But it was possible to get out faster and accelerate better due to the greater torque and all-wheel drive, having correctly selected the gear in the M mode of the machine. Kaldina has its own advantages in accelerating on the move, blowing up in the turbo zone is a separate song. When kickdown from second to first gear, even on the machine, there is a jump, or rather a jerk after which acceleration continues up to 180 km / h.
A few words about braking dynamics.
The systems are the same for the three cars, at least the calipers and discs. It works more efficiently on the Selick (most likely due to the difference in weight), but still, the pedal is not informative enough and there is a tendency to overheat, but not like on the Kaldino. In general, the brakes last a little longer.
Therefore, such plans appeared:
Replacing the suspension, possibly installing more efficient brakes (I am considering a kit from Proma or GT4), external styling for CC3.

ps replaced the timing, VVTI gear, made the replacement of all consumables. Suspension - rear arms, strut struts, bushings

last winter made me think about preparing the car for winter operation :) - a new battery, a cover for it, thermal insulation of the hood - in place of the standard one, which did not stand the rigors of our conditions).
