▄▀History_of_model_TLC▀▄ ▄▀History_for_all_100!▀▄ — Toyota Land Cruiser, 4.2 liter, 1998

Perhaps, "cruisers" do not need any advertising. These cars plow roads and off-roads, probably in all corners of the world, and their reliability, unpretentiousness, power and comfort have long been generally recognized.

Generation Kruzak 100 body is certainly no exception. I think drivers can describe it from personal experience endlessly, but, as they say, you need to know the history. =)

In January 1998, the 80 Series Land Cruiser passed the baton to the 100 Series. By that time, with its excellent off-road performance, maneuverability and unsurpassed service life, the Land Cruiser had already earned an excellent reputation among drivers around the world. At that time, he, as the most reliable SUV in the world, was selected for UN procurement. Both in Japan and abroad, he was preferred when conducting rescue operations, working in the most difficult conditions, where other machines simply could not survive. At the same time, it was regarded as one of the most prestigious cars.

A number of new motors have been developed for the new series. Gasoline engine type 2UZ-FE and diesel engine type 1HD-FTE. These new engines are true technical masterpieces, combining power with low fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. So the good old non-turbo diesel 1HZ remained in the lineup

Diesel engines:
- 1HZ (4164cc, 131hp@3800, 29kg*m@2000, atmospheric, 6 cylinders, 12 valves
) 24 valves)

And petrol:
- 2UZ-FE (4664cc, 238hp@4800, 44.2kg*m@3400, V-shaped, 8 cylinders, 32 valves)

The new engine is an improved version of the 4-liter 1UZ-FE V8 engine that Toyota used in the Celsior luxury car (known abroad as the Lexus LS400). When installing a new engine on the Land Cruiser 100 series, a steel connection was added to the aluminum alloy of the cylinder block, which increased its service life. In addition, the braking system was tuned accordingly, and the engine was modified to improve its performance at medium and low speeds, which was extremely necessary for a car with such a heavy body.

As for the diesel engine used in the 100-series cars, it was an improved version of the 1HD-FT type, to which a compact electronically controlled high-pressure fuel pump with direct fuel injection was added, as well as an intercooler. In this way? a new 1HD-FTE engine has been introduced with improved power, fuel consumption and reduced exhaust emissions. In addition to the fact that the fuel pump acquired a direct fuel injection system, the nozzles themselves were also modified, as a result of which it was possible to significantly reduce the level of noise and vibration. The 2H type engine was installed back in the 60th series, and it was he who became the "progenitor" of the latest 1HD-FTE engine, with which the diesel versions of the Land Cruiser entered the next century.

Double wishbone front independent suspension and rack and pinion steering are two more new elements of the passenger car in the new Land Cruiser series. To further enhance ride comfort and stability, Skyhook TEMS and Hydraulic Level Control (ANC) have been introduced to improve vehicle performance on paved roads.

In December of the same year, the export of cars of the most expensive configuration Cygnus began. The prestige of this modification exceeded the prestige of the most expensive Land Cruiser 100 car and therefore even had a front end design that was different from the rest of the 100 series cars.

The 100 Series chassis features independent front suspension and, compared to the 80 Series models, a completely new frame design with integrated shock absorbers. The rear suspension of the 100 series is the same system as its predecessor, but redesigned control arm attachment points make the ride even more comfortable. At the same time, the 105-series cars, made specifically for the Australian and other markets, have identical chassis to those used in the 80-series.

In August, the well-proven systems on the 90 series, such as TRC and the VSC vehicle stability control system, were added. And then, in September 2000, along with additional changes and improvements, anti-theft engine blocking system and other security systems began to be offered as standard.

The 100 Series offers a range of features to enhance rider and passenger comfort, such as the Land Cruiser 100 with the option of installing a DVD navigation system with an Electro Multi Vision (EMV) display in the center console.

Although the Land Cruiser 100 is getting even closer to a passenger car, quite a few drivers - especially outside of Japan - continue to use it as an SUV. To meet the needs of drivers in Australia, North America and other parts of the world where the problem of lack of roads still exists, Toyota engineers designed the Land Cruiser 105 series with dependent front suspension, which is actually the direct successor to the "workhorse" - the utility car 80 th series in the simplest configuration. But no matter how many elements of luxury appear in it, the Land Cruiser still retains the original features and qualities of an SUV.

The 100-series Land Cruiser has become not only the pinnacle of all previous Land Cruiser developments, but in a certain sense, the model of excellence for all off-road vehicles. It is equipped with a complete set of high-tech mechanisms and electronic systems, among which we can mention ANS and Skyhook TEMS. The vehicle height adjustment system AHC allows you to maintain a constant ground clearance, regardless of the amount of cargo and the number of passengers. For example, on the highway, the car will “sit down” for better aerodynamics and handling, and on a country road, the suspension will raise the body above the road.

With the Skyhook TEMS mechanism, the shock absorbers are electronically adjusted depending on the road conditions. Driving becomes more comfortable and stable. Soft suspension also makes the ride more comfortable, but the problem is that this increases the instability of the car. The Skyhook TEMS mechanism allows you to cope with these negative effects.

Yes, where are these five, salt or something :). It's not a pity for a good person :).

Well, go for it!)) Let's see what happens later))) By the way, thanks for the ratings, now I'm on my personal blog and on the "3+" car)))

Well, maybe you're right, it's just simple :). And I want to be original :)

Well, in that case, you should probably take a different look at the question, but what if you just lift the 80-ku by 3-5 inches? Vryatli then she will sit on her belly))

No, yes, I know them both inside and out, we went :). Just for example, and 80s bridges are 16 cm wider, I just won’t fail somewhere, but he will sit on his belly, that’s why. In general, 80 and 100 cars are comfortable and stable, not like my jumper :)
And I myself am not very big :) 176 cm, so for me the internal height is not particularly critical :).

By the way, about 80 more) Don't be mistaken, it's a bit wider, but the height of the ceiling lets you down, it's so unusual, PPC ... Although there is enough foolishness in 80 ... So if you are ready to sacrifice the distance above your head, then I advise you to take 80

Ehhh ... Hunt ... Well, the boom can try and bring such an idea to life :). Just for me it would be the perfect and versatile car. Well, 80s, 100s are still more, off-road is not always a plus, the pradiks seem to be smaller, but not so strong already ... And there is no better car cruiser at all :). So there is nothing else to choose from :). And my ideal only lacks a good engine :)

Wow! Put this 1HD-FTE on yours, and I think it would then be possible to ride it for another 40 years)

100-ka… mmm… I want to have 1hd-fte :). Well, the truth is, I don’t want to change anything in mine, if only the engine is more powerful and stronger ... :)
