Silk Way 2009 - Toyota Land Cruiser, 4.2 liter, 2006
In 2009, the first of its kind rally-raid of the DAKAR series took place - across the territory of Russia (Tatarstan and the Orenburg region), Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. And its name is "Silk Way 2009".
The rally was held on the initiative of the presidents of Russia - Dmitry Medvedev, Kazakhstan - Nursultan Nazarbayev and Turkmenistan - Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov, and its significance goes beyond the purely sporting action. The Silk Way Rally is intended to become another symbol of the inseparability of friendship and good-neighborliness that has been linking the peoples of Turkmenistan, Russia and Kazakhstan since ancient times.
We went to the finish line of stage 4 in the wonderful city of Zhanaozen.
Arriving at the location of the Silk Wey camp (and this was the territory of the Zhanaozen airport), we saw that no one was allowed in there (they require a special pass). We didn't have it, so we took a detour. We found a place where there were no fences, two huge trenches were simply dug, but we also didn’t come on the Corolla, easily overcame it and rushed towards the camp.
The camp itself was guarded by UAZ patrols, but they thought that we were lost participants in the Rally and did not chase us (well, I think they would not catch up).
Well, here we are in the Camp with the legendary participants of the Silk Wey Raliya raid!
It's cool to feel like one of the participants in the rally, at least in the parking lot.
The beauty!
But can you tell me - why do short pajero ride in raids - and long patrols?
Hey! one guy from the press center offered us to fly with them to Zhanauzen after Beineu, but we didn’t have time. otherwise they might have met there at a bivouac) ) ) ) ) they say in other cities there was no such luxury as walking and "interfering with work" for mechanics) ) that's what I managed to click on www.drive2.ru/users/autom…4062246863888296847/# post
in Beineu, we managed to talk with the KAMAZ team leader, with the navigator Glotchakk, who won the Dakar this year, I took a picture with Sainz, and of course they didn’t let our team through by Filonets and Moroz also talked a little. then everyone went to bed, and we had a train in the morning, out of boredom, at first they pestered the press, then they switched to the organizers)) it’s a pity they don’t spend it in Kazakhstan now. I liked it very much. such famous racers a stone's throw from you is something!)
it was a joke when they went to the airfield, a traffic cop drove by. there, in general, it was not far away, probably 700 meters, but he stopped anyway and offered to give me a lift. and those cops that were assigned for protection, instead of driving away (I'm used to them not letting anyone close), on the contrary, they urged me to climb on the truck to take a picture)
Rubber on stones does not last long. This is technical and obviously a reserve for the team.
