How it all began ... - Toyota Crown, 2.5 liter, 1997

    Toyota Crown 25 1997

It's time to overhaul the motor … Reluctantly, slowly and thoughtfully it all began.

The motor left the engine compartment, remained in the garage, and the body moved to live in another garage. The most interesting began.
To begin with, the injection pump was moved with the replacement of the cam washer, carriage with rollers, oil seal and other seals. All meshes are cleaned and blown with the unit assembled.
Next came the revision of the cylinder head. Has been sanded, valves lapped and cleaned, caps replaced. It remains only to rehearse the washers on the valve lifters and it will be just a song.
Moved, cleaned the oil pump with the replacement of all pressure reducing valves and springs, including those that are on the oil cooler cover.
The power steering pump did not escape its fate. Washed, cleaned, seals replaced.
The turbocharger was only cleaned, did not disassemble. There is no backlash in the longitudinal and transverse directions, and it makes no sense to clean the soot on the washers, then it will take a long time to collect.
It's time for the block with all its goodies. During the disassembly, it turned out that chewed the liner 4 of the connecting rod along with the connecting rod and the crankshaft neck. By itself, the idea came to mind about replacing everything at once. For 1 connecting rod is not serious to buy. Along the way, the cause of death was also revealed. The oil channels in the block are clogged with something viscous, like jelly. Apparently, the previous owner decided to add some kind of miracle liquid to the oil, which greatly and uncontrollably increased the viscosity of the oil. The block was immersed in a solvent bath and after a week of baths, cleaned and blown out with a compressor.
A separate conversation about the "miracle masters" who climbed into the engine ... The word "gasket" was not known to people and everything was assembled on ordinary silicone sealant at 50 r per tube. As a result, it is everywhere and everywhere, even in those places where it is not needed in principle ... They removed 1 of 2 (only 2) oil pressure reducing valves. Haven't figured out what for.
All absolutely bolts and nuts are tightened, apparently with a crowbar. Even the bolts of the oil pan had to be unscrewed by a montage. About the broach of the cylinder head bolts, I am silent at all. They were attracted, apparently by eye, all with different effort.
And the height of skill — was put broken oil scraper ring.

In general, after what he saw, it was decided to thoroughly change EVERYTHING ...
Even the poor crankshaft burst along from the cranked neck to the very beginning ...

Following common sense and the saying: "if you want to do well - do it yourself", the work has begun.
I'm waiting for the rings to come from day to day and start assembling.
I'll take a photo and tell you what's what.

In general, this is a pipets ... I gave the crankshaft to repress the old oil pump drive gear before the holidays, they still haven’t given it yet ...
The rings are dressed on pistons, pistons on connecting rods and all this has safely moved to the block.
I also wanted to say separately about exist.ru, an online spare parts store… The guys have completely lost track of time… Despite the fact that I have been working with them for almost 3 years and spending far from small money, the quality of service is falling, not growing… Orders are delivered slowly, as if they were walking. Transport workers can not put cargo on the plane for 10-12 days ...
