I'll tell you a little story of one repair that happened to me:
Some time ago, I was annoyed by a rather strong bang when switching from second to third gear. I would have traveled like that if at one fine moment a Toyota service company had not been announced to replace the clutch and actuator on cars before June 2007 of release.
So during this repair they remove the box, so I decided to save a little. After talking with manegor, it was decided to make a "defect".
He calls me - the following was revealed: the entire third gear needs to be replaced (more details later), and the second would also be changed, plus the oil seal (changed not at the official) is crooked, the oil is running away from you ... the amount is about 30,000 (only spare parts) !
I run to the salon, let's show it! See the photo below.
I look - the corners on the gears are actually ground off, the bearing on the shaft is spinning rather poorly, and the synchronizers need to be replaced accordingly, the left oil seal (hands to wrest the workers from Japcars). Okay, you have to do it once the box has already been disassembled. The battle for spare parts has begun ... On the existential, I broke the prices - delivery 14 days (at affordable prices, the difference is exactly twice if 1-2 days). Searched in other places - negatively. Since I decided
to “do it this way †, I bought the following spare
parts

Total 14,000 ! (here's the savings for you)
Plus, of course, I took the original oil in a store near the house 75W-90 2 liters.
Total: 16 days without a car, 20,000 (work) + 14,000 (spare parts) = 34,000 rubles, new clutch, actuator, but it rides MUCH better, and without cotton, respectively, + new oil)
PS saved on the service company "removing, installing the box" for 10000 r.
