Rear disc brakes with caribou suspension.
So we have dumb drum brakes that don’t slow down like they should, but we want a normal deceleration of the car. The idea was taken from a friend of toyo.
I had cars from 101 bodies, went through them.
Bought additional discs, pads and handbrake cables.
We disassemble the entire rigmarole from behind to the fist.
Remove the hub, drum boot. We are taking the hub to the turner, please reduce it by a centimeter in diameter, it is better to give it with a disk so that he himself adjusts as much as necessary. We check the salenta on the fist along the way, I changed to polyurethane immediately.
Further, if the salents were also changed and the fist was removed, it is necessary to check the bushing for adjusting the descent, I have it tightly sour in the salentblock which is in the lever. A very hemorrhagic place, the best solution is to buy new replacement levers or from disassembly, and cut the old one with a grinder in a car. Since I had already bought new salentas earlier in the trailing arm, I didn’t cut it, as a result I removed it, barely damaging the subframe a little.
Next, we make a spacer for the brackets. I got one like this.
It was not easy to calculate everything correctly because there was not enough space, the spacer turned out to be 5mm thick. I also removed 7mm from the seat on the brackets. The holes for fastening the brackets are located at a radius of 87 mm. I also had to shorten the bracket bolts.
We collect.
The machine is a little higher than the drain on the front drive, but that's okay, the handbrake cable connected fine and works.
The expected effect has been achieved.
