Little joys — logbook Toyota Altezza 1999
In general, a great thing is little things, it seems not big, but it delivers in full (either negative or positive).
Altezz has some cons, a little in general, but there is (I'm talking about RS):
1) weak power steering (I pumped mine out)
2) a crooked glove compartment and a tank cap
3) a vile metal rattle around 4 thousand revolutions, this is with Altezz mechanics rattles catalytic converter.
4) my clutch pedal also began to creak in the cold.
I'll probably start with the third, here budget tuning has a place to be (what I promised to tell Alexei).
In general, as everyone knows, there are Altezzas with mechanics and there are with automatic weapons, and thanks to Toyota engineers for such a wonderful engineering solution, namely:
The mechanics have one catalyst and is located on the central pipe (middle part of the muffler), and automatic on the manifold (on the "pants "If it's true). Therefore, we go for disassembly and buy the central part of the muffler of Alka machine gun :)
And this is from the mechanics (the photo is not mine), but it’s clear that I had the same pipe, here is that 8-coal thing - a catalyst
And we put it in our place. We rent the central part of the bellows as scrap metal, the cat inside costs ~ 1000. If someone is not aware of the precious metals there (which is why the new ones are worth so much).
As a result, I get a direct-flow track, no cat, but I had a cat-back (HKS HiPower).
When asked why it was simply not knocked out, I answer, it will yell and ring even worse.
And there are two resonators on the automatic pipe, the sound is super, no hysterical yelling, a noble low roar and rumble, I burned half the tank, I was happy to ride all day :)
And finally, but perhaps most importantly, I blocked this vile creak.
It turns out that a large spring creaked (there are two of them). moreover, it creaked in the saddle of the pedal (there are two fasteners, one plastic, and on the pedal there is just a groove where it is inserted).
The spring is tricky on it, the paint is very slippery, the paint has rubbed off in this place, hence the creak.
It is treated elementarily, the spring is removed, in place of which it is attached, a thick layer of adhesive tape is wound, and liberally smeared with graphite grease.
Then we have a bunch of sex to put back.
I tightened the spring with plastic clamps, and then cut them and pulled them out.
PS in addition to the monetary benefit from getting rid of the kata, changing the sound, we get a big arrival at the top, the motor spins up noticeably more willingly :)
PS2 And most importantly, no collective farm, everything native gets up perfectly :)
PS3 A BIG thank you to Romka, my friend and our club mechanic for letting me use the lift and for the advice :)
Here is such a budget tuning and little things ...
