DIY: Installing the IDLE UP Button - logbook Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 1997
Prado got me in the summer configuration: 1 battery, without a rear stove and without a button for turning on the warm-up revolutions. I didn’t want to spend a lot of time warming up the engine in cold weather, and after studying the materiel, it was decided to put a button for turning on the Idle Up warm-up speed.
All wiring with a connector is prepared from the factory, you just need to skolkhoz or buy an original button.
Her part numbers are 84453-35020 and 84453-60020 (Prado 90-series/Surf/4runner 185-series). My spare parts suppliers did not have it in stock, I would have to wait from a week to two for an order, and pay from 30 to 50 dollars for this piece of plastic. Therefore, I went to a disassembly near the office, where I bought 2 buttons for $ 15 per pair (I took one from my father-in-law, he didn’t have it on his car either).
To install, you need to throw off the plastic under the steering column and find a bundle with 2 connectors (wound at the factory with electrical tape).
The black connector is what it is. We stick it into the button, fasten the plastic in place and check.
The button is a rocker, when pressed, the speed rises to 1200-1250 rpm (fuel is added and the injection advance angle moves), the car warms up much faster. The Idle Up feature is turned off when the ignition is turned off and in any position of the automatic transmission selector, except for P and N.
Instead of the original one, you can use any non-latching button that works to close the contacts. It is necessary to call the necessary pair of wires in the black connector (one pair goes to the backlight of the button, the second to idle up). You can hang an additional signaling channel on these wires, and control the heating speed from the remote control.
Here is such a simple, inexpensive and useful in winter conditions, mod.
