Thoughts on Replacement - Toyota Corolla Ceres, 1.5L, 1993

So, the first results of my "sudden" car repair of my old Jap are done.

Where did it all start? In 1993, at some Japanese car plant, the 5A-FE engine was released, which, after 16 years of ugly use, suddenly began to turn down. It somehow happened that I am the owner of the engine. Fortunately or not - it's too late to decide.

In addition to the fact that the engine got tired, the following was also revealed. Miracles really happened with the suspension. As soon as I changed one part, another knocked after a couple of months. Or else - to which I am more inclined, the suspension diagnostics revealed the wrong results. More precisely, not all, because it was still worth changing half of the front suspension.

During an unscheduled inspection of the car with a friend (“Let's hear how the engine knocks at start, I don’t like something…”), an automatic transmission dipstick and a pronounced fucking face on a friend's face were taken out. More precisely, not so, this expression appeared after he sniffed the probe. He offered to sniff me too, but the probe of the box is a long sword, the movement of the end of which is quite difficult to stop, especially if the beginning of the probe is in the hand of a friend, and you need to smell the other end with your nose. In general, it smelled burnt, which is not good.

This news stunned me, the last four days I was driving on the sly, trying not to switch the speed. That is, no “burn”, we go quietly, before the trip we pray to the Japanese god “Well, please, a little more”, and after the trip we thank him for a successful ending.

On Saturday I decided to fix things, went to “Yokohama” (a Japanese spare parts store near the house), found a wonderful oil in a box from the manufacturer Toyota (the price is about 1200 rubles for 4 liters). It would be all good if they had a couple of these boxes. Unfortunately, by the will of fate, 7.5 liters of oil are needed in the box, and 4 liters is a shortage. The situation was corrected a kilometer later (and we are talking about walking), in the “Avtosfera” store (the same line of business) - 8 liter DexronII bottles (funny container) produced by Castrol were bought.

My hands are growing out of not quite the right place, so the walk continued with the search for a car service. I remembered one near the house (Kirov-Plekhanov). The price of changing the oil is 600 rubles. I argued a little with the technician - he claimed that I had a filter, and I answered him that, judging by the forums, I had a mesh that only needed to be rinsed (after a couple of hours I learned that I had won this dispute of opinions).

By the way, while searching for a service, we saw how the cars were professionally opened - a parked car of the VAZ 11 model family was robbed (huh) by opening the car, instantly removing the radio cover and running away. I think that these are still small losses - it would be much more frustrating if the owner, in addition to the panel, would also restore the glass.

In general, the service was found on Gruzinskaya Street - and this is not our first meeting. An hour and a half the oil was changed.

So, the result of the week.

For the engine (contract) the following results:
1. 23-27 thousand rubles. The price is inconsistent primarily due to the fact that the delivery price is jumping. It is calculated by liters, then by weight ... Okay, at least not for horses.
2.21,500 rubles. One friend suggested.
3. Tomorrow I'll find out how much Yokohama will ask for. For some reason, they started the price tag from 35 thousand, but apparently they just did not understand what kind of engine.

On the suspension.
1. The right steering tip creates the main noise. Required to be replaced urgently, necessarily.
2. Silent blocks of longitudinal rods. They also create some background sound.

The work on the suspension will cost one and a half thousand.

By the way, it costs about three thousand to transfer the engine from the guys.

If you yourself cannot do something, my advice is: be present during the repair, otherwise interesting details may appear in the check for repairs that "type" have been replaced. Check it out, it will not hurt! You will learn something for one thing.
