Replacing the VVT gear and ... - Toyota Carina, 1.6 L, 2000
For a long time already I thought about replacing the VVT gear. And finally I decided and ordered it (price 5700r). The gear arrived a month later. I took it and immediately change it to the service. When the old timing belt was disassembled and removed, it became clear that replacing the timing belt (1500r), oil seals (3 * 250r), a hydraulic tensioner (1390r) and a tension roller (1300r) would be added to the replacement of the gear. Well, what can you do, it's time to fork out. The dome is all original, you cannot save on this.
As a result, the engine stopped rattling like a tractor and started working much quieter. I have not yet understood the driving sensations.
Total: work 2200r, spare parts 10640r

Of course, it should work quieter if you change everything. When I changed everything, I thought that the engine was changed. He just whispered. And I'll tell you about the gear: it cracked only in a small rpm range from 1100 to 1400. There was no crackling at other rpm.
I agree, I also changed all this, only it turned out for me at about 20 thousand. I also changed the clutch on the timing belt and some other rubber bands))) And when I started I thought it would not start and listened)))

so that everyone understands, this clutch rumbles when it is not engaged (well, when it’s already driven, it’s enough for 20 thousand) after 3 thousand it is on and there will be no crackling, while driving you will definitely not feel anything, since this clutch when rattles all the same its function performs at all 100. checking the clutch is simple apply 12 volts to the VVT valve connector, the car should start to crack and the speed should fall, but the crackling will disappear immediately.
p.c only for engines 4a-ge, on 4a-fe and 5a-fe this clutch is not present ... and it cannot rattle there))
Now, the same trouble! Another question, did you change the light bulbs by chance in tumanki?

Now my engine is running much louder than before! Previously, it was not heard at all, but now it is tarohtit it feels like something is cracking. If I change everything, how will you work quieter for me?
I changed. The H3 bulbs. If you change it yourself, it’s easier to remove the tumanku from the bumper. And then there the latch is uncomfortable, I suffered with it for a long time.
Yes, I also changed, now I will make a car I want to put xenon in tumanki but forgot what bulbs!))
I ordered through friends, it was that for a long time. Six years have passed.
Right now it's easier to order. From Japan, all and sundry carry
