Choke ... - Toyota Celica, 1.8 L, 2003

Well, for a long time I was told that it would be necessary to do this, so I decided to clean the throttle.
The decisive step was the words of Sergei on Alteza: "Yes, I already clean with my eyes closed on Alteza." What's the difference 3s-ge, 2zz-ge :)
In general, I went to his work on Saturday and there we did it.
On the way I bought liquid for cleaning carburetors.
I even took my camera with me, but ... for some reason I forgot to take a picture :( apparently got carried away.
In general, the procedure is not very complicated, apart from one unpleasant moment ...
First, the branch pipe to the air filter is removed. Then we take out all the interfering air hoses (there are like 4 ), 4 bolts of the damper and 2 hoses with antifreeze remain.
It was with them that it was fun. Serega, confident that there is not strong pressure, threw off the hose, and about 0.5 of the antifreeze poured out a fantan :)
And I forgot the antifreeze at home!
In general, I agreed with a friend, he drove to my house and brought me antifreeze :) I didn't want to go after assembly with an empty tank because of the peculiarities of 2zz. With time, air would get into the engine, gurgling would begin. And I would have to raise the face of the car strongly. And how to do it with my obvesom. I can not imagine. though there is one more option. about it later.
It's just that I already had a little gurgling ... :)

The damper on the motor looks like this.

Note: this is a pre-styling motor damper. I have it electronic.
The outside was very dirty for me. And the internal one is like this.

I washed everything with liquid.
There was some oil in the receiver. Almost everything was neatly cleaned with a rag.
Well ... we collected it all as it was.
By the way, let's get back to the gurgling. I decided to pour antifreeze as expected. He pulled out the tank and lifted it over the engine: "Hold it, Seryoga, I'm starting it!"
And oppa ...
xx no, the speed of 1000-2000 is jumping.
Poo.
I thought.
I still pooped.
Then they added that apparently the work of xx is somehow connected with antifreeze that flowed out of the damper.
In general, after the first annealing, the rpm returned to a stable 700-800.
This is how I spent my time on Saturday afternoon. And in the evening there was a fireworks in honor of the city day ...

I took off for the first time for 20-30 minutes before leaving work, but then I urgently had to leave ... in 20 minutes the idle did not go off ... then left in the evening for an hour, maybe even longer (it was in the garage) and everything became normal!

the first time for a minute. it did not help, I also thought that it took longer ... I turned it off for 15 minutes.
maybe it was really necessary to turn off the battery longer ... did not know :(

How much did the battery hold without a wire?
to reset the values, sometimes it takes 40 minutes ...

I do not know about annealing, but after cleaning the electronic choke, the normal XX is restored by resetting the battery.

the second method, proven, it is necessary to remove the expansion tank and raise it above the motor and that's it)
I did not encounter wedging, I did nothing with the throttle. Until 2002, there were cable dampers, then in August, electronic ones went.

"And I would have to raise the face of the car strongly. And how to do it with my body kit. I can’t imagine. However, there is another option. More about it later."
So what else is there to expel air from the system?

And it also seemed to me in the pictures that your choke is punctured or is it just the light that falls like that? On these engines, there is a frequent jamb - wedging of the damper. Haven't faced this?
