Re-lighting the center console (FAQ) - Toyota Celica, 1.9 L, 2001

I don't understand Toyota a bit. Why was it necessary to install green illumination of the climate and other interior elements on a car with an orange dash and standing like a Camry? Couldn't stick to the stylization to the end and highlight everything in orange? In general, I decided to eliminate this annoying blunder. Due to the fact that there are SMD diodes in the seat heating buttons and the power window control unit, I needed a microsoldering iron, which I did not have :(. And then
my friend Rakish comes to the rescue , who has long overexposed the entire interior and tidy of his camryuha. with him comes to me such a prof naborchiki:.
Mikropayalnik
soldering with tin-suction (damn what a handy thing!)
Pinset
Electronic -Tester (It is necessary for continuity of already soldered diodes (do not run into the car 10 times!))
Pistol with Hot melt glue
Heat shrink tubes
Platypus

Climate
re-light Next, we go to the car and remove the center console. If the car is with a manual transmission, we start first and the lower part, near the gearshift lever. It comes off easily. Next, unscrew the 4 bolts that hold the climate itself. Next, gently push your hand inside and turn off 3 tires. 2 are connected to the climate and one at the top (clock and passenger sensor). We take out the entire console. The climate unit is attached to the console itself with 2 more latches.

The heater and the power window control unit are easy to disassemble, they are latched.
So, what we have:
The climate, its backlight consists of the most common diodes.

The screen is even easier. It is illuminated by ordinary bulbs with green pipettes.

Power window control unit - green SMD.
Seat heating buttons - 2 SMD diodes each (green - Stand By and yellow - Heating modes).

We go to the store and buy orange bulbs and diodes there. + We buy a Pair of LED strips (footlights). Cable, 5-7 meters with a cross-section of about 0.25 or 0.5. And 5-7 pin connectors, more on that later.
I think there is no need to explain how to solder diodes, the only recommendation is, after soldering, ring all the diodes to see if the polarity is correct.

Illuminated feet!
We go into the car, disassemble the plafond, measure the cable, from the plafond to the rack, from the rack to the pedals, and then through the central tunnel to the glove compartment. And we mark the places of the incision (cover, stand, pedals, bordachek).

So we solder the beginning of the cable to the ceiling, so that it would hold better, Glue it with hot glue. After 10 cm, insert the 1st connector (you never know, we might want to remove the backlight.). The 2nd connector will be in the rack. 3rd and 4th - pedal assembly, respectively, the beginning and end of the diode strip and the 5th at the beginning of the 2nd strip (bordachek). All connectors are best sealed with heat shrink! since the wire may jump out of the crimp socket.

It is best to glue SMD tapes with 3M double-sided tape (I already had it on the tapes when I bought it).

The whole action took about 3 hours. sorted everything out for the 1st time. I drove up to one of our TuNinH centers, so they paid me ~ $ 26 just for the illumination of the pedals.

well done, I'll take it up soon too, thanks for the report)

Yes, there is such ... But is it worth it? I'm waiting for a few pieces of paper with American presidents and I think I'll scratch the Sony XAW-X1 ...

I somehow managed to re-solder a couple of SMDs with an ordinary soldering iron. But more, of course, unsuccessful attempts came out =)

It turned out cool, now let's change it in the mafon :)

Thank you for the report, we also want to do the same to refine the instrument scale itself.

Excellent ! I also altered myself, a little more complicated, my climate is not ...

Thank you, the mafon has long been worth another, you can look further in the BZ.
And the illumination of the legs sometimes oh how it helps =)

A very correct choice to make the climate backlight in color for the tidy. I used to like blue, blue, and so on, now I'm glad I didn't touch it, because I came to the conclusion that everything will be orange like a tidy. I'm not particularly fond of music, because there is a stock, but I think someday it will be replaced by another. And your example shows that your mafon is out of topic now.
And the lighting of the pedals for taste and color.
And of course full credit!
