Cured crackle during acceleration - Toyota Corolla, 1.6 liter, 2000
During acceleration, at a fast set of speed under load, a sharp and not very pleasant sound was heard in the area of some of the collectors, similar to some kind of dry crackle.
If you press the gas pedal smoothly, then there was almost no sound.
Sometimes it's cool, some deliberately make their car make such sounds. I didn't have to do anything :) But the sound was boring, especially when driving around the city.
At first I thought it was a detonation, because after reading the reviews of the owners of similar cars, I realized that this is not uncommon on this model.
I also found reviews about the low-quality plastic of the intake manifold on this year's cars. The method of treatment is self-tapping into the intake manifold or replacing it with another, which is of better quality
Detonation disappeared because the sound was not metallic and did not depend on gasoline.
It was decided to change the intake manifold, because I did not find a manual for screwing a self-tapping screw.
Result - the sound has changed, but not completely disappeared.
Since the result did not suit me at all, I decided to go further on the exhaust system now, ordered an original gasket between the exhaust manifold and the intake pipe. This is a metal ring coated with heat-resistant materials.
Replacement, in principle, is not difficult. The old ring - it just completely burned out and only a metal base remained of it.
The result of replacing this ring has exceeded all expectations - the crackling has disappeared completely, now I drive and enjoy the silence, like on a foreign car :)
Price tag: 600 ₽ Mileage: 118,000 kmSo this crackling was during the chirping under load and on a warm engine in the region from 1800 to 2800 where the engine speed? I still can't cure the detonation!
I had no detonation, but problems in the exhaust system. I have no detonation (mmm)
Thanks for the post ... it looks like mine is the same.
An unpleasant sound arose at higher revs.
I still have a burning smell from the glushak.
Now everything is connected.
The sidekick has a similar situation! thanks for the info, we'll check everything!
To be honest, I don't remember anymore. It turned out to be exactly the same as the old one. Replacing it did not help, it was a gasket between the exhaust manifold and the front pipe.
If I need my old intake manifold I can sell))
Between the exhaust manifold and pipe
number 17451-0D010,
look at the diagram where it is located, you will immediately understand.
Can you tell us more about this ring? The cot number or the correct name, as I understood and found this metal-asbestos muffler ring, or otherwise the ring between the catalyst and the muffler, I understand correctly. Crackling similar tortured already.
