from the past, how it was, and how it lasted. - Toyota Supra, 1990

from the past how it was and how it lasted - Toyota Supra 1990

I will write a short history of the process of working on a car, from the old, from the past.
having collected the money I prepared for painting, and when I saw a couple of spiders, I began to skin them. For this, a shortcut was taken - a nozzle on a drill, and when the corset touched the places of the turnover, white dust flew from there - a spackle (not gerych>: D). in general, the left door handle was held on a 3-centimeter layer of putty, the rear arches were also built of putty, in general, only the hood, roof, and trunk lid of the car were intact and not putty. Everything else was covered with layers of putty from one centimeter to five centimeters. The most surprising thing is that the putty was polyester, not glass. Well, everything that was under the putty itself was either in a hole or rotten in the trash.
here is what was under the putty:

Two hours of a state of shock, quiet calculations for future expenses, another hour for a vacation, and now, sitting on the hood of the car, it was decided to RESTORE ANYONE, AND BY ANY FORCES.

In this endeavor I was supported by a repairer and a painter. for which they are not human thanks!

there were thoughts to make all the elements ourselves, counting, thinking thoroughly, complex shapes and a lot of work were obtained. REFUSE. I decided to search for parts. For one rear wing in St. Petersburg they wanted 6500 rubles from me. respectively, two are already 13 tr. each door was estimated here at 7-8 tr. without glass and without cladding, pure "foam" (iron base of the door), the front fenders were estimated at 4-5 thousand rubles. and this is only a budget for the details, not complicated mathematics helps us to calculate that at the maximum cost, the costs are 39t.r. plus installation work 15 tr. hall 5 tr. everything else + 45 tr. painting. Well, here's the car. Everything would be fine if the details were there, but they weren't. there were only rear fenders.

And now ABOUT THE MIRACLE! I found a car in the city of Obninsk near Moscow without a muzzle, but with a whole rear end. plus all sorts of little things, like interior trim, electronics and other things. many many many things. Call, an agreement that for 12 tr. I take the whole car, everything that is left of it, I assemble the crew, and in a Mercedes sprinter we take everything out of there. the car had been cut open beforehand, so that everything fit in parts. 36 hours, 2.5 hours were allocated for sleep. and here is happiness in St. Petersburg.
narod.yandex.ru/images/photo_templ/spacer.gif here there are several photos of the halves and how and what was drilled.

Then there was an autopsy, an autopsy showed that the car was very strong in terms of structure and thickness of the metal, but still the outer cladding was rotted into dust. in the truest sense of the word. this is what was outside, but what was hidden inside (sorry for the quality, but here, even without any special quality, you can see the whole deplorable situation)

Further work went on cleaning, anticorrosive, mavilen and other security measures for iron.

the trunk was washed, and also cleaned and zaantikoren
[
Further work began on cutting the wings from my supra and welding the newly brought ones, a long business that requires precision and experience. everything went well enough! all the seams were again cleaned and poured with anticorrosive, the anticorrosive is not market, but special, I can only say about its use in space. creepy stuff. but he knows his business.
this is what happened without wings and without a trunk [

in general, long story VERDICT:

Then, on the occasion I was found another car, only in St. Petersburg under the disassembly, and that's where I met wonderful supravodom DAVEom, did not find an entire gallery cars, but I can say that the car was almost ideally, only without a drummer, the car was given just for disassembly, after our efforts, that's what was left of it

went further installation of the purchased units on our cars, I got Left Hand Drive Vehicles headlights, wide (sham), front fenders, front door assembly both, and something small, for everything I gave something in the region of 7 tr. if I'm not mistaken. now compare with the prices that I wrote at the beginning. pretty good, right?
here are the new wings, though painted in red bologna already. [img] photofile.ru/photo/for_di...0/large/48840940.jpg
and new Phra, everything fell right.

By the way, if anyone knows, Japanese cars were produced with round fenders, American ones with blown ones, here are two photos showing black blown, red Japanese-round.
- normal Japanese wing
[img] photofile.ru/photo/for_di..0/large/48847084.jpg - blown - American wing
- two wings on one machine. that's the difference.

The turn came to the front of the car, the fenders and headlights were replaced, but the car had a strange "beak" that was crooked and flimsy, it turned out that everything that was on it was trying to take off, and everything that was attached to it rotted, and on the last evening I opened the hood from the wind blows the glass is broken and the hood is jammed thoroughly, the original glass costs $ 1200. the hood is something in the region of $ 600-700. hood and beak is sent to me by a man with Vlad

fitting [img] photofile.ru/photo/for_di...0/large/48847697.jpg [ / img ]
Replace everything, and now everything is fine. new doors, all new fenders, the boot lid is as new as the bonnet and beak.
Now the car is waiting for the paint brushes, or rather, it is skinned and putty, well, it is not forgotten about anticorrosive and so on. ;)

yes, buddy, the shitty St. Petersburg weather did its job (
our laurel stood for two years in the open parking lot, they
rolled it onto the lift, understood and gasped.

This is yeah! In Siberia, Krasnoyarsk, they like to sprinkle salt on the roads, but I have never seen this on the Japanese! The Europeans are still rotting. Yapi 88-92years are still normal on the bodywork, if there is rust, then the result is after an accident.
I am pleasantly surprised that I took up such work with the machine.
And the headlights are beautifully made. Looks like a fish in water.
