Mineral oil in a Japanese motor. - Toyota Corolla, 1.3L, 1992

I talked a lot about oil, about how bad it is to pour mineral oil into a Japanese motor and hinted that it might end badly.

So, Castrol 15w30 oil was poured into the car for 10 years. Mom went to the service station, paid money, she was poured, she left. She did not know, does not know and does not understand what she was doing for the car.
I even remember from childhood a little conversation between mom and dad (I was then a boy of 10-12 years old)
Mom: - Oh, can you imagine, I came to change the oil, and they told me that I was just in time because it was already over!
And she is glad that she arrived on time. Well, well.
I wonder where did the oil go from the hermetically sealed engine? And this is what we will see now

And here is a more divine view of the valve cover

Pretty isn't it?
But these are only polistories. After all, I hoped to get rid of a little blood by changing the valve stem seals. I was hoping that oil consumption will finally be less than gasoline consumption. But alas ...
Then a serious blow awaited my youthful psyche.
Measured the compression. I don't remember exactly on the cylinders, but in the fourth the compression was equal to 4. And the other three did not reach the norm.
They told me to throw out the motor. Cheaper to take a new one.
Everyone is smart and rich, I understand. But mom and dad do not understand all these pictures, and it is useless to explain ...
Therefore, I decided to do everything to bring the baby back to life.
We replaced the rings, liners, all gaskets, and I filled the motor with Valvoline 10w60 oil. Should I tell my mother that when I come to change the oil, it is there and after not even 5 thousand, but 8-10 thousand, IT IS THERE.
Of course, everything did not go without consequences, block 4E is not polished and does not liner, therefore, there is a production on the walls and the oil leaves a little. But sorry, not 1 liter per 100 km!
But most importantly, the car is moving! He goes to all his 86 forces (even if in real life there are fewer of them) and to 1332 cubes.

The conclusion is correct. =)

Tin. Those. so that this was not better not to pour mineral water into the japanese motor?

Fahrenheit

if the motor can be turned off, then this must be done. why not pour a half-sink?

I do not know. I don't want semisynthetics.
but in general some say that 10w60 is essentially semi-synthetics.

4E-FE does not have original repair pistons and rings.
The Chinese do everything, but if the Japanese made the unit unrepairable, then it will be so.
I did everything to make him live. To date, compression on cylinders 10.5,10.5,11,11

Well, the compression is within the normal range, it seems to me.

I just thought, what kind of compression is the norm?
in the net naryl that 10.
means it is normal.

I am interested in engine repair.

And what is the price of the issue?

Five for the labors!
but I do not agree on mineral water, it serves perfectly, I change every 3.5-5 thousand depending on the pollution along with the filter The
price of the replacement issue
(Castle 5w30) 4L - 1000r
(200r orig. Drive Joy)
Once I poured castrol magnatek, horror, it burns, kaptit at a compression of 11.5 on all pots.
After the mineral water was poured, the car drove much better! At idle, you release the gas smoothly, you start to drive in comparison with synthetics as if on a poorly warmed up engine, it pulls clearly better. I began to read, it turned out that it was connected with the molecular structure of oils ...
The Japanese are far from stupid, not for nothing go on mineral water!
It is necessary to cheat with the supposedly original Toyota oils in a red jar, cheaper than 800r 4l, BUT!
there in export options there are significantly fewer useful and detergent additives ...
It does not apply to transmission oils, as far as is known, additives do not save there.

By the way, I didn’t think that my mother could pour such oil there ... not vegetable oil, of course, but I began to pour domestic oil into the transmission, I regretted it, although 75w90 is very viscous, my hand was numb for a long time while it was running down. I will pour GL-4 Toyota

Here is a useful little article, who is interested ...

BASE OILS

Improving the performance properties of engine oils and increasing the replacement period is achieved by improving the quality of base oils by complicating and tightening the technological process of their production. Base oils according to the well-known classification Api (American Petroleum Institute) are divided into five groups:

GROUP 1 - content of less than 90% saturated hydrocarbons, and / or 0.03% sulfur and have a viscosity index greater than or equal to 80 and less than 120.

GROUP 2 - the content of not less than 90% of saturated hydrocarbons, and not more than 0.03% of sulfur and have a viscosity index greater than or equal to 80 and less than 120.

GROUP 3 - the content is not less than 90% of saturated hydrocarbons, and not more than 0.03% of sulfur and has a viscosity index greater than or equal to 120.

GROUP 4 - POLYALFAOLEPHINS.

GROUP 5 - base oils of other types, not included in groups 1-4 (complex alcohols and ethers).
Now directly to the oils.

Engine oils produced from base oils of the 1st and 2nd groups are called mineral oils. They are traditionally widely represented in the domestic market. Mineral motor oils have a number of advantages: good lubricating, antiwear, anti-corrosion properties, and most importantly, a low price.

Oils where mixtures of oils of groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 are used as the base are called partially synthetic or semi-synthetic (hc-hydrocracking). They have good thermo-oxidative and viscosity-temperature properties.

Engine oils developed entirely on base oils of the 3rd and 4th groups are called synthetic (usually based on pure Pao-polyalphaolefins). They have excellent viscosity-temperature properties that provide reliable engine start-up in cold seasons, as well as increased thermal stability and low evaporation. Synthetic based oils have a significantly longer service life before replacement and are energy efficient. Also synthetics are distinguished by:
- higher resistance to oxidation;
- increased service life;
- less viscosity increase;
- less response of additives;
- less deposits;
- low volatility;
- less oil consumption;
- protection of systems for reducing toxicity of exhaust gases;
- improved low temperature viscosity;
- better pumpability during cold start of the engine;
- less dependence on thickening additives;
- high resistance to mechanical destruction;
- increased wear protection and improved performance.

Today, the requirements for the physicochemical and operational properties of lubricants are based on well-known classifications and specifications, in which the most important characteristics are set by the results of special tests.
Knowledge of the fundamental principles of the current classifications of lubricants and the correct interpretation of their characteristics should help the user to make the right choice in each specific case.

castrol magnatek used to pour. and burned and captilized, it is also presented in the form of carbon deposits in the photographs.
I pour synthetics and I can't get enough of it. the motor seemed to become lighter.
