We repair a mirror - Toyota Corolla, 1.5 liter, 1989

In general, I had one problem, and everyone was itching to solve it.
Even the last owner raskherachil the right mirror of my car, or rather the plastic case.
It seems like it was glued together, but the crack is big, and not beautiful, and in general it did not give me peace of mind :)
Of course, someone may notice that it is cheaper to buy something else on analysis. And he's right :) But our hands are not for boredom.
I decided to paint both mirrors black.

Purchased for this event:

Black glossy paint - 120r
Primer - 120r
Varnish - 120r Putty
on plastic - 200r

To begin with, I will describe the process of disassembling the mirror, because this is still the same gemmor.
The mirror element itself is removed like in 80% of other cars, for this you need to press your fingers on the upper part of the mirror so that the lower part rises. After that, we put our fingers under the lower part and gently but confidently pull the mirror element towards ourselves. It is mounted on 2 latches and can be removed very quickly (with a certain skill).
Next, unscrew the fasteners and here is the ass

I thought for a long time how to separate the folding mirror motor from the main frame. It turned out that he was pressed in.
I had to disassemble each motor and forcefully pull the black wire going through the center of the motor.
After that, 2 plastic parts are removed. That's all.

I glued all the parts on both sides again, so that the glue protruded from the seams.

Now we putty.
I smeared the prepared putty on the main crack.

Then I sanded it with 320 sandpaper, and put another layer on top with a spatula, trying to level the surface as much as possible.
I also covered the rest of the jambs and potholes on the plastic.

Again I sanded the 320th and covered up what didn't even out. After about 20 minutes, I once again leveled the surface but already with 1000th sandpaper.
Here is the finished material for subsequent work.

Now the meat itself, which took 7 hours, is PAINTING.

First you need to prepare the parts for painting. With 320th sandpaper, I matted all the varnish and once again walked over the putty.
Now you need to wash off all the shavings with water and let the plastic dry.
As soon as the plastic has dried, degrease and put in the soil.
I put the soil in two layers, at the beginning a slight haze, and after drying I made a wet layer.
After the primer has dried, apply a layer of light haze with black paint. After about an hour we take a light sandpaper and remove this layer to the ground, trying not to damage the ground.
Wash and dry again, then degrease.

Now the main paint is also put in two layers, at the beginning a light spraying and then a liquid layer.
Varnish can be different, there is one that is applied immediately to liquid paint, and there is one that is applied after complete drying.
I had the second option, after about an hour I applied the varnish again in two layers.

Only 4 parts, but I steamed until 4 in the morning :)

He let it dry until morning and collected the mirrors.

yeah, if I had the opportunity then as now, I would not steam with paint in an aerosol. I would blow from a spray gun once and all business)
