Solving the problem with steering rods - Toyota Land Cruiser, 3.4 L, 1983
After the axles were lowered under the springs, one of the problems was the placement of the steering rods.
The fact is that the long rod became under the spring and in front of the bridge, i.e. the first contact with an obstacle and there is no traction.
To solve this problem, steering bipods with modified geometry and reinforced steering tips and rods were ordered. Everything seems to be "native", it is for this car… BUT! And among the Americans there are ours :), i.e. hackers! When installing, the following troubles surfaced: the short tie rod turned out to be very short (!) I.e. did not reach for anything; the diameter of the finger of the reinforced steering tip did not fit into the native bipod (I had to bore the cone). The short rod was replaced by another long one, cut to size and ... a thread was cut, but (!) With a cutter, because American standard pipe and we simply do not have such taps!
Well, we installed such a steering damper TachDogovsky with a return spring (no GU).
In short, they adjusted everything and this is what happened:
At one time I came across a short pull and pull of a Panhard, it was wrong that some kind people threw the steering wheel) but when you do it yourself you already know exactly what you are driving and how it will work
No, the pulls do not cross. They are parallel. The first photo shows it.
And the damper is installed on any car with an increased wheel diameter.
somehow the rods are crossed, they will not crush each other during the suspension moves?
But the damper is strong. Hmm, a dilettante question, but with a spring put only if there is no gur or, in principle, to improve the return of the steering wheel?
The main thing is that when you redo it yourself, you are already sure of what you did! Good luck to you!
We are waiting for new posts!
Well, unfortunately, very often recently comes from Pindos something that does not fit at all
like in an old joke, that after assembly, process with a file :)!
Well, if you clearly outline the boundaries of what you want, then you can ... but not for long;)
The test, I like it, an excellent machine, it is not possible to finish building and upgrading)
But ... the road will be mastered by the walking)
M ... well, I don’t like your intentions sir =))) I suggest not to flood a person in the subject anymore))) otherwise it’s not decent already like that))
It's a pity that you put it far away ... Otherwise, Dan would have got hold of bridges;)
