Grille a la TRD - Toyota Carina ED, 2.0L, 1994
Well, I don't like chrome on ED! And nothing can be done about it. She is not luxury, and does not strive. And we will strive.
Today, in our heading O. Skillful Handles, we will make a TRD-style device from a stock false radiator grille (well, or HIRO, not the essence =)
Lyrical digression. We made the grille back in 2007, just after painting the car, it was restored and played with new colors,
so further in the comments on the text I will mention my own mistakes in technology. Idea - Ilya shvED- .
Disclaimer. Photos of the process were taken with a handy VGA camera, so the quality is atstoy.
For tyunenha we need:
1. Actually, the lattice
(You can shred your own, you can buy a second one (nah two lattices?), You can twist it from a clubmate (what? Well, as an option!))
2. A can of fiberglass putty.
(Initially, a putty was bought for plastic, it was used, therefore, from experience I advise fiberglass)
3. A pair of spatulas - narrow and wide.
4. A web of metal hacksaw
(It is now I have a Dremel But there was no kalhozzz ....!)
4. The primer and paint
(it was originally BODY cylinders of balloon colors -. Best.)
5. chenit trivia, rags there, degreasers ... auxiliary shnyaga in general)
Oh, yes!
6. Hands!
Go!
We remove the grill, remembering not to_ damage the fasteners and not_ to tighten the fastening bolts. With such a square hat x. where can you find them!
Ruthlessly cutting out all unnecessary.
Let's start filling. It is necessary to blow out all the cavities of the putty to obtain a perfectly even frame.
Ahtung! The fiberglass putty crystallizes sooo fast, you have to move twice as fast!
The result of Ver. 1.0
After 2 years, the paint was weathered and partially blown off (a balloon, what can you expect from it!) And after repainting the car, the grille was also repainted. In gloss black RockPaint + blue RockPaint xirallic from the base color.
Under the bright sun, Xirallik crystals appear and play with blue sparkles.
The result of Ver. 2.0
In the shade, it is the usual black metallic.
Regards. Ilyukha - for the idea. Dad - for help, without him I could not have done it!
Price tag: 600 ₽Nope, Kohl, I removed all the nameplates altogether, from the muzzles back in 2007, when the first version of the grille was made, and the trunk lid was shaving - no nameplates, no spoiler, no holes. Only the ED inscription remains in the middle of the taillights, but the hand will not rise on it))
Yes, I agree that the matte black grille was more effective. And mind you - then there was still no fashion for a matte color - I was the first =)))
Didn't put a nameplate on the typewriter? The frame looks beautiful, where is the photo on the floor).
The last picture is good.
Finally, you can see the finished muzzle.
The result is excellent.
yes, how beautiful it looks with a lip, you can't describe it in words, you finally realized it, brother
The mesh is on self-tapping screws, they are screwed in while the fiberglass putty has not yet hardened, when it hardens, seats are formed under them.
