Continuing variations on the TRD theme. Bumper. - Toyota Carina ED, 2.0 L, 1994
Yes, I love TRD. Just like WRX pilots love STi, Euro-R loves Mugen, GT-R loves Nismo. This is our dear Toyota. Therefore, I was thrice glad when, when buying a body kit, on fittings, I discovered that the front lip was a copy of a similar part from the court studio for a Toyota Celica of the ST20X generation.
This is how it is in the original:
And here is the miracle that was purchased for the ED card:
Wild horror, in short ... Fierce gaps, cracks ... Although I even went with her for two months, screwing on the screws. A kind of gavroche with unpainted body elements ...
Before winter operation, the screws were unscrewed, the lip was removed. Further, in the process of permanent repair and tuning, it was laid on it for about a year. That swap, then repainted - there was no time.
And so, at the beginning of October 2009 it was decided that the device should be installed! The work was in full swing.
It should be noted that the bumper itself was modified
in the process of repainting the car, all the central ribs were removed and a "shelf" was made by a master of his craft, now passing through the entire middle of the bumper to the central air intake.
The process of fitting to the bumper.
After the work carried out, the lip felt twice as lighter due to the fact that a huge amount of excess thickness of the part was removed. It was also decided to cut off almost three centimeters of fiberglass from the top, because it was impossible to achieve "parallelism" of the lower and upper planes of the future bumper. In other words, the lip stood up, "lifting its beak."
Nearly perfect dry clearances. This is the maximum that was really achieved.
Next, you need to clean the lip adjoining area. We take the instrument and, to the accompaniment of "Bulgarian jazz", rip off the recently laid paint from the bumper to shit ...
We temporarily suspend the lip to the bumper with rivets turned 180 degrees.
That's right, smooth and beautiful. Now we take the glue on the plastic, carefully coat the mating points of the parts and install the overlay on its now completely legal place and fix it with rivets using this tool:
The first stage is over, the pad fits snugly around the bumper thanks to the glue and wide-headed rivets. Then we wait for the glue to completely crystallize for about a day and continue.
Working with fiberglass. Since we decided to make a one-piece bumper, there should be no gaps. A small amount of fiberglass and fiberglass putty did the trick with little or no weighting.
The third level of hardness:
Since our winter is snowy, and the car is low, contacts are inevitable, and such a move will give the necessary rigidity, and the body kit will not break off (pah-pah-pah ...)
Then final sanding, priming and painting.
Attention! Professionals work! =)
Thank you all for your attention!
Price tag: 5 000 ₽awesome! the work is just excellent done =) it looks great =) I am hatching an idea about the lip myself!
1. Great body kit! To this topic! The bends of the body are traced in the body kit, which is very important!
2. The garage is good - long, bright, with heating)). Still it was the same width).
3. The wife is really smart and beautiful! ))). Understands that the spouse needs to deal with men's affairs))).
4. For help to a friend, only nickels! ! ! )).
5. We are waiting for a photo of the side and rear body kit!
Max, as always, described everything in detail.
You are our pioneer and inspiration.
Thank you) But there already the legion hurried in advance - the alphabet was written)

Wow =) Can you already start to get sick with star fever? =)))
Thank you, very nice! =)
Well enough ... we are working on the sly.
It turned out great! Add a car here, and write a bortovik in more detail) We are waiting!
cheerfully))) let me share my experience. www.adrenaline-club.ucoz.net/forum/31-228-2
I indicated the price of the question above, but I don't know where to buy it, I learned about the sale through third hands and bought it.
Searching the Internet is the most correct thing.
Hah) Thank you)
Duck, we have already laid it out two times and remade it three times)))
Max mega respect you!
How did the shpaklya behave after a while? I also want to be poured in front of it, but they tell me it will burst, crack
On the internet, Zhek, on the internet) Who is looking - he will find =) Look in the "Chest" on the Dromov branch - they slip through, it happens)
If I wanted to, I met a person's blogs at the carps forum - he rolled his cars entirely into plastic - bumpers, copies of doors, fenders ...
Then it is better to make a bumper at once, it will be more solid, more lightweight and less gimor than collecting them in a heap.
Thanks for the answer. I'm going to do my lip myself, this question is relevant to me.
Lip thickness was about 2-3mm, quite heavy, more than half of the weight was removed by cutting off the upper part and thinning to 1mm.
How thick was the lip and how much did it turn out after removing the thickness of the material?
