Inserts - Toyota Corolla, 4.4 L, 1980
Today I threw off the pallet from the motor that had arrived. I wanted to see the state of the crankshaft, because for the sake of it, in fact, I bought it :) I liked the crankshaft, there are no seizures, it turns easily, let's hope that when I take it off completely and measure it with a micrometer, there will be no unpleasant surprises.
But with the inserts came out a joint. The fact is that I bought them before I found a motor in Irkutsk. In fact, they are interchangeable on the "T" series blocks, but not on the 3TGTE :) Or rather, the indigenous ones came up, but the connecting rods did not. On this motor, they are a little narrower (although this can be fixed with sandpaper, of course), but the most important thing is that the holes for the oil supply under the piston do not match.
At first, I thought to just go with 2TG cranks. But then, using a syringe filled with oil, I discovered what the difference was. The fact is that in atmospheric 2TG oil is sprayed onto the cylinder wall, while in turbocharged 3TGTE it is fed to the piston crown, thereby cooling it.
Conclusion: new connecting rod bearings are needed. Compared to how much is still needed, this is a drop in the ocean :) Mileage: 0 km
Didn't you look for inserts on e-bay? If there is no opportunity to buy there myself, I can tell you how
Those that I came and bought on e-bay, but they did not fit. I found this motor here ndcenginebearing.com Wrote them a letter
