Connecting CarPC to a regular monitor (Acura MDX)
Hi all. Today we will talk about how to add external image source to the standard monitor. My subject Acura MDX 2001 onwards In its configuration there is a color 7 inch monitor for navigation and the control of the climate control.

We have "wonderful" regular monitor connected to the blog navigation. Navi transmits the image via the RGB/Synh on the monitor. Who do not know, you chew R - Red (red), G-Green (green) B-Blue (blue) — the colors which are displayed on a monitor to form an image. And Synh is a signal which sinhroniziruete a picture of the monitor with the source. If it is nice =) but I think it is clear.
Task.
Leave the functionality of the standard monitor. And this is climate control and navigation. And of course at the right time to get a picture from an alternate source. In our case, this is a CarPC. Although it can be IPhone, media player or DVD.
Relay
First things first we need a button. A button or switch which will switch the picture between sources of video signal.

The computer you want to connect has a DVI output (VGA). To connect it to a regular monitor, you need a Transcoder. This device is able to convert video signals from one standard to another.
There are transcoders for the specific make, model of machine and equipment. They are expensive, but they have more features and less hemorrhoids to install. Is there a universal, for all occasions.
The transcoders
Native transcoder expensive, so buy generic from Absolute TVSM-01. It is able to convert the video signal from S-Video to RGB. But as I said we have a computer there is no S-Video output, only DVI. So later I had to install a Converter which converts video signal from DVI to S-Video =)
The pros and cons
the advantages of such a system:
