This is how the winter ride ended :( - Toyota Land Cruiser, 3.4 l., 1983

This is how the winter ride ended - Toyota Land Cruiser 34 l 1983

In the previous entry in the BZ there was a photo report about pokatuha. Everything was nothing until we dug the snowdrifts to the sand. It turned out to be very loose and deep. Pulling each other out for a long time, for me it all ended with a torn cardan cross and a front axle flange spaced into the trash. He tied the remains of the cardan with a rope to the frame, turned off the front axle and, after evacuating with a quinoa, on the rear wheel drive to the garage. Still a tenacious machine. The third serious breakdown and the third time it returns on its own.

Having made an analysis of what happened, I came to the conclusion that the rubber was changed to something more low-protective. Most likely I will return to Interco Irok. Already two times my rubber has buried itself, then something solid in the ground clings to something and the wheel stops. And since the engine has enough foolishness, it breaks where it is weaker. The first time it was a CV joint, and now a cardan. The gimbal itself was not damaged. All the same, reinforced. I think my native would have wrapped up ...

What are the thoughts of the gentlemen?

BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain KM2 ... the very last ... set myself ... no regrets! :)

yes, I read your shift report)

I can only say one thing ... there is a very big difference between KM and KM2 ... I drove on both and have something to compare ... KMy are much noisier and by themselves are different in comparison with how KM2 keeps itself on the road and off-road ...

Goodrich MT, aka "MADA" is a very popular rubber. Firstly, for its universal character, and secondly, (and I think this is the main thing now) for a relatively low cost.
But MADY-2 is already not on the budget for many. And especially outstanding qualities are not expected from him.

N
Nikson 09.12.20

I don’t know how popular KM2 is in Russia… I know that many people like the first version of BF MAD… but I will say one thing that they are not as good as the KM2 version… 2e quieter-softer-easier ...

Yes, you probably need to give up the diagonal rubber.

Or strengthen everything, or less evil or less diameter)

replace the flange, and go further. and always have a spare in the zip. Better a flange is changed than a bridge. Because the flange does not break every time.

Exactly. Crosspieces must be in the spare parts, you can grab the flange.

d
dimagreg 09.12.20

the whole car is not needed, but a flange or a crosspiece is necessary. the engine and wheels are large, and it is necessary to leave a weak spot for a situation like yours. as a rule, the crosspiece. but it can break if the situation is so certain. constantly amplified, then there will always be scrap in different places and then you will have to carry the whole car in a zip. By the way, I watched top gear in Bolivia, there was the same thing with the same cruiser. The lift was done, the gimbal was reinforced, but they forgot to lengthen it. As a result, the flanders and the crosspiece were smashed.

Ideally, of course, it would not hurt to have a spare. But you won't carry the whole car in stock;)

The Icelanders, as always, burn :-) We are all surprised how your cars can digest such wheels, but you, it turns out, stupidly carry spare flanges with you :-)

Something I have the impression that it is not the tread height that matters, but the set of parameters))

K
Kulikoff-Sun 09.12.20

Yes, I agree, you need to adjust to reality :)

The height of the Airok (new) tread is 1/3 of the TSL SX tread. So everything is learned by comparison.

c
crocodilered 09.12.20

Do not push the sneaker to the floor :-) At 1HZ the same problems - a lot of foolishness, the transmission turns off at times. So you just need to take into account the realities and not shove "bare heels on the checker." It's just another off-road driving factor, nothing more.

Airoki, by the way, is also not sugar in this regard: we have a 36th on the battlefield, they only dig it :-)

As for the KM2, it seems to me that these are too peaceful wheels for this car: the mileage on poop clearly exceeds the mileage on asphalt.

The first time the CV joint was ground. I put reinforced axle shafts and CV joints. Now the crosspiece and the flange have been ground (by the way, they came with reinforced cardan shafts). Then there are hubs and razdatka ...

there are two options, either to do it further, or to redo everything in general, but this is fraught with even greater instability. Dima is right)

s
somebody 09.12.20

:))… for this you don't have to be lazy to tear off the "lead" from the driver's seat once again in order to get a hi-jack or re-hook a quinoa

K
Katala 09.12.20

you don't need to go where we are all climbing, judging by our reports and photos :) :) :)

s
somebody 09.12.20

In general, somewhere you are right - "there is no limit to perfection" ... but I would still like to ride more than improve :)

K
Katala 09.12.20

It won't end. Rather, it will go in a spiral and ad infinitum.

But after all, we took our cars, for this? :) or not? :)

K
Kulikoff-Sun 09.12.20

100%!

so you have to follow the knurled one
changing everything on the way
for when this is all over you will no longer have weak points!

it is necessary to strengthen this place, otherwise it will constantly fall off, do not carry a ton of spare parts. And I wouldn't change the rubber

K
Kulikoff-Sun 09.12.20

I will hope that it is so.

O
Odissey4x4 09.12.20

Seryozha, it's okay! You roll to the car, the car to you. The rubber tread has nothing to do with it: only the size. Now, if the same place was torn, and so in fact they are different ...
Here I have three GPs on the 80-ke, two SHRUS, one trunnion ...

K

Not destiny: (I will not recover by Tikhohod. So either to the roundabout or to Gaplyk.

A
Autozver 09.12.20

Well, what can it cost to wait until the Slow Quest Part-3 and, based on its results, if there is a third breakdown, determine the future fate, so to speak. Or in other words, to reveal another weak point.

K
Kulikoff-Sun 09.12.20

I'm afraid they would drag me out on the tracks for a long time :)

s
somebody 09.12.20

This is the only way to rest with this beast :-) Although the tracks of a tank would be useful to him along such a "track"))

K
Kulikoff-Sun 09.12.20

Exactly! No need to rush :)

A
Autozver 09.12.20

Well then, it remains to wait a little and not drive the horses.
And so to speak, something for everyone The year began with new items for spare parts: (but then they will not be in the height of the season :)

F

Lowering and smooth operation with gas. I operate 33 TSL swamper. Rubber satisfied and while pah-pah no breakdowns. Well, if he started digging cars and there is an opportunity to jerk, or to lean on a truck - God protects him :)

K

Totally agree with you.

what broke there nifiga did not understand - the terms are not known to me) one thing is clear - there was little pleasant.

K
Kulikoff-Sun 09.12.20

Yes bullshit! I tied the gimbal to the frame and drove off. All parts have already arrived, I will go on Monday to be repaired.
