Front bumper! - Toyota Cresta, 2.5 L, 1990
Since I saw how awesome the 81st Cross in body kits can look, I got the idea to do something like what I saw myself. The experience was scanty - cilia made last year. Therefore, it was spectacular to start such a serious matter as the alteration of a regular bumper. Therefore, it was decided to make a removable lip that could be removed for the winter. To begin with, a base was made, on which the foam was then applied.
Then all this was pasted over with several layers of fiberglass and some kind of ugly thing came out.
It all looked quite different from what was needed.
And yet I decided to take a hacksaw in my hands. All unnecessary was ruthlessly cut out and the lip was tightly screwed to the bumper with self-tapping screws
As a result, something began to emerge
After much suffering with symmetry, he began to paste over the whole thing with layers of fiberglass.
Then there was a lot of painstaking work, and a huge number of evenings with a block and a spatula in hand.
You can see the result in the photo))
The design was inspired by the popular BN Sports body kit and added some personality)) Price tag: 5 000 ₽
Yes, nothing complicated, you need to apply a little in layers, allowing them to dry.
damn brother, tell me how did you make the base? That the foam hasn't come out of all the cracks? I thought, I thought ...
no, it was just not very high quality, that's when I got confused with the matrix it turned out well!)
Pretty boy! I'm also thinking either myself or buy)) As they say. You never know what you can do till you try))
our hands are not for boredom, our hands are for cars! I also want to beckon with appearance! how much did you do in a circle? in about standard hours?
Damn, I didn't think that we had such talents, I thought everything was bought, but there it is! There are simply no words! 5+
work perfectly! if it's not a secret, tell me where I got the information! I want to do something like that! I will not feed me yet to work out for the body kit! I train on my old car!
I always wanted to be confused about making at least a small part ... but how I will see how it is done ... perhaps the truth is just to start)))
my rarity also asks for something like this ... but I'm afraid I won't have the patience to deduce symmetry and in the end we will have a collective farm (
surprised! I did the front lip in the same way ... and the rear bumper too ... but the fiberglass was falling off, the scotch tape also didn't really hold, so the hairy putty was applied immediately to the foam, and on top of the finish ... and while there was only foam, it seemed that the bumper was already leveled, but as you start to putty - horror ... I dig deeper with my bumper for about 3 months ... as a result, I split it in the first snowdrift on the winter circuit races ((((
I look at your cross and think, can I try it again?
the first pancake is known to be lumpy)))
Very neat body kit and most importantly, the shape of the car is not lost! Well done!
very neat work. What machines do with people =))) creative character appears from nowhere)))))
Yes, I, too, without experience and errors will be a bunch :) I read that first a template, and then only a normal bumper, the initial version is fragile.
Hey. No, unfortunately, you can't save money here. In this post, only the first part, that is, making a dummy, then I removed the matrix from it and already made a new bumper on it, a lot of materials were gone. And without experience, I made a lot of mistakes = spent extra money.
Looks great! Respect and signature :) I also think to do it myself, but with my work there is almost no time ... Or buy. How much finance did you manage to make a body kit in a circle with you?))) I'm waiting for an answer, maybe in half a year I will do it myself, if the benefits are good :) Since now all the money is spent on construction, or maybe the material comes out at the price of the finished purchased .)))
I think it's worth before starting to have at least a rough idea of what should happen.
Pretty boy. 👠I also started making a layout from my own bumper. There was a stupor at the form-design stage. There is not even a presentation in the finished version yet. The catch is that I swung at something exclusive, so there is no sketch, no pictures. Everything was in my head. But after a traumatic brain injury, enthusiasm and fantasy diminished. Before that, there was complete improvisation and inspiration. 😂 Now the balvanka lies and gathers dust. Maybe you will inspire, or you can say that it's not worth it. I will spend more nerves.
